Alien 3 biggest sin is that it’s fricking boring. I know what they were *trying to do - go back to a more deliberate pace like the first movie. But guess what? That first movie is never boring and despite it being a slow burn it deliberately paces out the tension with interesting characters, beautiful set pieces, and a constantly shifting story. Alien 3 is a depressing drag that is a bitch to watch. Doesn’t help the fact that it follows one of h the most exciting action movies of all time.

Despite a generational director (who was hired as an unknown to be bossed around since the producers had a handful working with James Cameron) and a cast of wonderful character actors, the movie is still a bore.

It’s just as much of an LSU town as anywhere in Louisiana

I’d say everything falls in the shadow of the 2008 crash. But specifically the key notes are:

1. Occupy Wall Street going viral in the fall of 2011 (the protest was a fail on paper, but was the first instance of activism hijacking social media)

2. The shooting of Trayvon Martin (and Barack Obama’s response to it)

3. Obama’s 2012 run (going all in on social justice and painting Mittens as the white devil)

4. The Mike Brown incident (the algorithms are now fully pushing the racist police brutality angle that will stir up chaos and riots)

5. Gay marriage is legalized (slippery slope)

And maybe most importantly

6. GamerGate (the moment the culture war spread from online niche to mainstream way of life. The moment corporations and power apparatus’ took off the mask and revealed that there is an agenda to push and a side to take)

6. Caitlyn Jenner debacle, transgenderism is immediately pushed and thrusted on the populace.

All of these things happened within a quick span from fall of 2011 to spring of 2015. Trump deciding to run 3 months after the Caitlyn Jenner news story was the gasoline being poured on the fire.
