You don't think that they already had feelers to the PAC and BIG? They have to say 2025 legally, just ignore that date as it's not important.
Of course they did, and I agree that 2025 is the drop dead date. You and I both know the negotiations on pulling that date closer are already going.
I simply do not believe that either Texas or Oklahoma shut the door completely on the PAC-12 or BIG yesterday. Why should they ? It would not be in their best interests to do so.
Odds are - they end up in the SEC starting the 2023 academic year. But it's not a stone cold lock. Too many things can happen between now and then.
And the PAC-12 really, really does need Texas and Oklahoma. Badly.

Sankey seems pissed the playoff expansion has been put on hold
I guess the other conferences find it the only way to frick with him?

They will join 2022.
Would be glorious watching the B12 shitshow and eating popcorn if they force them to stay until 2025 though.
Yes, I agree. As a family man with my share of kids and now grandkids, I can say this with all humility and foreknowledge.
When kids don't want to be picked up they will ball up and make themselves heavy.
That will be Oklahoma and the shorthorns at every function, conference call, big 12 event. They will be as heavy as any petulant child could possibly make themselves.

I believe you are correct, maybe more so that these B12 8’ers need to secure their landing spots & prepare for the future ASAP.

"Sankey seemed pissed": He created this playoff mess by hiding what he, as the SEC Commish, was involved with behind closed doors, orchestrating TU & Okla's move from the BIG 12. From several accounts, the PAC 12 & BIG 10 were especially pissed at him for his dual, but hidden, role. I doubt seriously that Sankey sat meekly at the table while an expansion that would undoubtedly help the SEC was voted on.

I expect the outcome:
12 teams
Conference champs only and FBS computer picks the others - not ESPN

The Big 12 will fold. When it does, the move will be complete. That's what the SEC is banking on imo.

But, with the cold shoulder Texas and Oklahoma are about to receive from the Big12, I think it comes in 2022.
Somebody is going to have to pay some real money then. You'd think OU and UT would just pay up and get the patch.
There must be some fear of liability in all of this. Hence, sticking to the script.

The Big12 will fold after the buyout

One theory is Texas challenging the GOR would set precedent for the ACC
I figure sticking to the script is a way to negotiate w/ the Big12 FOMO & Texas/OU will buy it’s way out soon.

Tu engineered the situation so that the Big12 will dissolve on its own. It probably will.

Or the other programs will also jump ship. I think it's going to be a mess for the Big 12. Once they start jumping something will be worked out to forgo 2025.
