Okay I'm confused, this ELO thing basically predicts where they'll be ranked? Because it says #34 for FSU.

The "real" Sagarin ratings are the PREDICTOR. Sagarin is forced to use ELO_CHESS formula for BCS because they require margin of victory to be stripped out of the computer polls (as if the humans arent taking that into account). Honestly, since they switched up the formula a few years ago to the current system they should have allowed MOV back in, IMO.

Elo Chess ranking is in the ( ). It's the ranking used in the BCS formula. There are 7 computers used in the BCS formula. The high and low rankings are thrown out and the remaining five are averaged for the computer ranking.

Its typical of the moronic way the sport is run that they decide they want guys running computer rankings to help them rank teams, but then they force those same guys to alter their rankings formula so they arent as good anymore. Genius.

The should and they shouldn't. The point is to win the game, not to win by a certain margin. Had LSU beats Alabama, 30-6 instead of 9-6, Alabama wouldn't have got a rematch.

In every poll with the bcs it does. So yes, in the bcs how you win matters.
A win is not a win in cfb , have to look good doing it too.

Each team only plays 13 games at most before the final BCS ranking. Thats only 13 data points per team.

There are hundreds of data points for each team when you consider margin of victory because in essence each possession, offense and defense is a chance to score or hold the other team down. Stripping margin of victory from computer rankings is automatically suspect and subject to wild variations because its got a much smaller sample of data (only wins and losses) to look at than a ranking using margin of victory would.

The human polls are far better and more consistent with each other because there are literally billions of points of data that humans can process and consider in their rankings. Everything from wins and losses to eyeball test, to margin of victory, to Saban's hairstyle can be factored in.

A&M is 1-2 against the top ten and lost both home games. UF is 3-1 with a loss at a neutral site. So what was your point again?
By the way, I think La Tech just scored on u again.

If A&M played Florida in the Swamp this week, they would win by 50.

They still use offensive and defensive efficiency, just not MOV.

Again, the biggest flaw is conference strength of schedule. It "eliminates bias" in the dumbest way possible.

Your right, when teams barely beat a creampuff team, they have never gone back in rankings in the coaches or ap poll. Never

Everything in this thread is about computer rankings which do not factor in MOV
