1) Louisiana Monroe 2007 - IDC if it’s the first season, this was in November. The team was competing that year. If JPW doesn’t fumble against LSU or throw that pick-six in Starkville, that teams playing on New Year’s Day.
2) 2010 Iron Bowl - All the props in the world to Cam Newton, he is the best CFB player of all-time in my book. Carried an otherwise 7-win team to a title. Blowing a lead with that team littered with Heisman talent and NFL HoFers was ridiculous.
3) 2021 Texas A&M - that was a dogshit football team.
4) 2018 National Title game - Losing to those Clemson teams under normal circumstances, no shame. Getting the doors blown off with the talent you had on that roster is unforgivable.
5) 2013 Iron Bowl - The comedy of errors in that game culminated in the pick-six; but not running Derek Henry in short yardage situations, particularly on the last 4th down play inside the 10 to ice the game, will always be, IMO, Saban’s worse in-game decision I’ve seen him and his staff make.

Derek Henry has a highlight reel in the NFL running over people. Carl Lawson, JFC.
Anyone not Aaron Donald was tackling him 1:1 in college.
Anyways, the very last 4th down call I’m talking about is the last one Yeldon got stuffed in. It was 4th & 1. It led to AU and Marshall getting down the field and tying it with great haste. Alabama converts there, It’s off to Atlanta and then Pasadena to go for the elusive 3-peat.

Easily this was the worst because a natty was on the line and it was one of the only times it looked like a Saban Bama team was just completely unprepared and unmotivated.
Second would be that tOSU cfp loss.
Third would be the 2010 Iron Bowl.
But only that Clemson game was just a butt whipping...and that never happened.
The Kick Six game wasn't a bad loss. He made the right call going for the long FG to win it. The team was gassed and I don't think we would have won going into OT. Crazy finish and we were #1 at the time...disappointing loss, yes...bad loss? Not really.

I will let each person decide for themselves who was better but I was very confident Ohio State would beat Alabam, even with the 3rd string quarterback in the South.
The team should have been allowed to defend their title but the powers that be would not allow them in the playoff. The Tide did smack Michigan State who our lone loss was against but I still think we would have won it.

Obviously not an Alabama fan but I dont think the 2014 playoff loss was that bad for them, both teams were pretty evenly matched. Alabama got up 21-3 early due to some turnovers by Ohio State, its not like Alabama was completely dominating the game and then took their foot off the gas. Ohio State was moving the ball early, the turnovers just got them into a hole but once they got those under control they were able to come back and it was a closer game the rest of the way.

With the benefit of hindsight, and ignoring the 2007 season, the worst loss of his Bama career was to texas am in 2021. Most of his losses at Bama were to teams that wound up having great-to-elite seasons, with great QB play. That 21 am team was mid at best, Zach Calzada is not a good QB. Bama was their only win over a team that would finish the season ranked. It’s honestly shocking (and pretty damming for Kirby’s legacy) that Jimbo was the first Saban assistant to beat him. This loss is what really made Saban look mortal and started the descent that eventually led to his retirement.

I’m surprised no one has said losing to BK in 2022 yet. Jayden Daniels, Mason Taylor and Harold Perkins were superhuman that day though. 2021 Texas A&M is probably the correct answer outside of ULM.

I know that loss on the surface seems pretty bad but it actually was the wakeup for a team that had yet to embrace his process. It actually laid the foundation on what he was gonna end up eventually building at Alabama. So that loss really needed to happen. ULM just got lucky enough to be the one to give it. They also got to capitalize on it by putting up billboards in Monroe that the Bama faithful got to see as they traveled to Shreveport for the Independence Bowl.
The NC loss to Clemson has to be the worst beating but the loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl in 2009 was pretty damn ugly as well. That team had a damn good run up until they faced Florida in the SEC and then proceeded to get their arses handed to them in the bowl game. What made it worse was the Bama guys talking outrageous trash beforehand.

I don’t think the Clemson beatdown shocked Saban. We were beyond beat up and didn’t hardly get to practice prior to the game. We got our arse beat for sure. But he knew it was coming.
