Name the last coach to win an NC that was at that school longer than 8 years since 2000? Outside of Saban, only 1 has won past their 6th year at the school.
Hahaha! Talk about a stupid stat with a ridiculously small sample size. Outside of Saban, you're talking about 8 years in the history of the NCAA.

We had a mutual fund wholesaler come in the week before that news came out a while back(he's based in Birmingham ) and said he got wind from some very senior brokers that were pretty well in the know in terms of the REC and said Texas was willing to pay off a property investment Saban got into and to which he's around 8 million in the hole
I think you are on to something there.

Major troll action. The hook is in the mouth. Do you really believe that with Saban preparing to win his 3rd NC in a row that Terry is walking around Austin looking for a house to move to? No one can be that foolish to believe this.

Now, whether or not Texas would pay that off or whatever is a whole different story.

Saban was hired Jan 2007. If he stays a little over 3 more years he is vested in the Teachers Retirement System. He can quit at that point and collect 20% of his average final 3 years salary for life. He can frick up all his investments and still have a million a year to blow.

I see lots of references to these bad investments in which Saban was supposedly involved.
Problem is when I try to find sources, all I find are message boards.
Are there any legitimate references to him being in a bind financially?
That would be the only way I'd see this playing out--that if, somehow, he was desperate for money and could double his salary, he might go.
But if he's made 30 million dollars at UA over the last 6 years and has money trouble--then frick him. He's an idiot. A winner at football, but an idiot.
I think Saban has a machine going and is working on LEGACY. He already has the mercenary reputation, and will always have it, but the longer he stays at Alabama, the softer that gets.
Does he "love" Alabama? Hell no. He may be comfortable, he may be satisfied. But he'll never be "ours." Not in the way Bryant and Stallings were.
But I don't care. Name me a coach in the SEC that isn't a mercenary. Coaches are hired guns.
Alabama presented a great opportunity for Saban, and he took it. It's still his best opportunity.
The only reason he leaves is for money, and that is assuming Alabama wouldn't match whatever offer is put on the table.

This just in - in desperation Texas offers Nick Saban Jr 10 mil to coach there.
Texas still sucks. Go back to Big 12 ball, A&M's little brother

As others have said, Tuscaloosa much like Baton Rouge, Auburn, Starkville, etc. are not even close to being as amazing of a city as Austin is, especially as far as quality of life. It's an actual real city not entirely based around the university, and has beautiful landscape. It also is a very diverse and progressive city.
Furthermore, between the talent pool of Texas, the money available there, the fact there is no state income tax in Texas and a 5% one in Bama can make a difference.
Also, Texas while diehards are not as ridiculous as Bama fans or LSU fans for that matter.
For those saying UT should get a younger guy to be there 20 years, why on Earth do they need that? If Saban can build up UT like he did Bama in a short time, they'll be set. Look at LSU after Saban left. They hired a mediocre coach from the Big XII and he's won 80% of his games and done as well as Mack did in his time at Texas.
UT has infinite more resources than LSU, and so I see no reason for this to be negative for either party.

If Saban was to leave Bama
I'd thank him for doing what he was brought here to do. Win Championships and get Bama's program back on top of CFB. Saban has done that and more, and this Bama fan appreciates all that.

Thatlooks like Matt Stuler's old house in Austin. I believe he sold it for ~10m when he moved back to Lafayette.

Why is this everyone's argument? Since when is Saban about that night life? Who gives a frick about how much nicer the city is? I can tell you one thing that's nicer in T-Town and it's that football team.
Because Saban wants to hob knob with hipsters at the local taco trucks. I have fun in Austin but I'm single and 24. Tuscaloosa is a better place for Saban than Austin. Everyone knows that.

And Bama wouldn't? Our revenues went up 16% from last year. This a troll for hits on website.

I think after nine years les is probably done with Sabans recruits. While he is no Saban you can't act like he is not a winning coach and it's not a given that bamas new coach would jump right in and keep the success going.

Most of his money doesn't come from the State fund so most wouldn't be part of his retirement.

Man, I have missed these threads.
It used to be full up of LSU fans assuring, ASSURING, us poor, stupid Gumps that -
-Saban never stays any where longer than 4 years
-Saban NEVER goes undefeated
-Saban ALWAYS loses one game he shouldn't every year
-Saban teams don't have good offenses because he doesn't want his team to outshine "his" defenses
-Saban will entertain talks from NFL teams EVERY YEAR
Now that all of the above have been proven false, they don't spout off about how well they "know Saban". Hell, LSU fans are now mostly saying he won't leave until he retires.
But to all those UT fans with internet access and a ShaggyBevo account-
