The athletic dept has at least two of their own sworn LEOs - considered UAPD - who provide security to them exclusively. I think they are deputized, too.
I've been around both CNS and TS at social functions, particularly at my previous job, and they never had security with them. The main reason coaches have it on the field is in case some Updyke type decides to get close.
I'll admit, though, that CNS taking a police escort to and from SEC media days and blue lighting the intersections was beyond assholish. He can wait on McFarland like every other person.
