Nick Saban doesn’t want NFL teams to make the same mistake with Tua Tagovailoa that he made with Drew Brees 14 years ago.

“We failed Drew Brees on the physical. That’s why he’s not Miami’s quarterback,” Saban told the Wall Street Journal earlier this week. “The sky’s the limit (with Tagovailoa). I don’t think any of the questions with Tua have to do with his ability to throw the ball and be effective.”

The slogan, as recently as October, was Tank for Tua....

Saban and the Dolphins backed off from Brees in free agency after he failed their physical exam and instead traded for Daunte Culpepper. Following a 6-10 season, Saban bolted for Alabama, where he has won five national championships.

Brees went on to become the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards (77,416) with the New Orleans Saints.

Saban doing what he has to do to live with himself. Imagine how it feels to ruin a kid's pro career by forcing him to play hobbled. Sad.

“Please draft Tuna even though I ruined him by making him play while injured and not making him do school work.”

Zip it Coach Sabah!

You failed in the NFL!

Kind of a red flag when your former HC is telling the league not to pass on you

Biggest risk in draft. If he gets on a team with a bad OL, it is even a bigger risk.

Brees had a bad injury to be sure but he wasnt considered injury prone otherwise.

Not so with Tua, dude has been "on one leg" (according to Bammers) by November in both seasons he started and now the NFL has made its season even longer.

Nevermind the fact that Tua has been somewhat average against other good teams despite having what looks to be a great supporting cast around him.

He's definetely a high risk, high reward proposition at this point and I cant see any team taking him in the top 5 picks unless they're absolutely, totally in love with him.

I’m not sure I understand your point.

JaMarcus Russell was incredibly unintelligent.
That was the Raiders mistake for the pick and contract.

Wow, this is probably the first time in the man's
history he's talked up one of his players before an
NFL Draft.
No doubt Orgeron has been totally mum on
Burrow and other players
The any and everything Bama obsession continues.
Complimentary but tiring.

Well according to him, he's Bama's only player with a top 15 grade so gotta make it count.

Saban on Tua:

quote:

“The sky’s the limit (with Tagovailoa). I don’t think any of the questions with Tua have to do with his ability to throw the ball and be effective.”

Saban on Burrow:

quote:

“I think Joe Burrow’s got great vision, does a good job with pre-snap reads and knowing where he’s going to go with the ball,” Saban said. “He also can extend plays [and] scramble to throw, which I think is really, really important and puts a lot of pressure on the defense. So Joe Burrow’s going to have a fantastic career in the NFL.”

Coach Sabah should know better than to listen to a kid that can’t even read!

Oof! Not a good look!
