Yea, there’s that and he’s 72 years old, won 6 national titles, and has grandchildren ..just won the SEC and took the #1 team to overtime in a semi-final. That chicken shite bastard.

What changed about his recruiting with NIL?
Serious question.
We’re on the heels of the 2nd highest rated recruiting class of all time, and are currently sitting at #2 in this year’s rankings.
Nothing was changing.

He was a great recruiter and LSU is in a rebuild. He got out coached and his arse beat by Daniels last year when Daniels was average at best AND SABAN HAD THE HEISMAN WINNER.

Does your dumbass not realize that the same thing happened to LSU this year?

Jesus Christ. As an LSU fan you embarrass me more than other LSU fans.

actually him and the Heisman winner are 1-1 against each other. I seem to remember him Beating Saban the season before.

Roughly half of the people posting in this thread will have had their hearts quit on them before they reach 72.
But I am sure age had nothing to do with his retirement, it is just yellow cowardice.

He was a great recruiter and that was the only way he was able to win. His strategy of stacking more talent than everyone else got destroyed by NIL. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to win by just pure coaching so he said I’m out. Good riddance!
Are you insane?
Alabama had a top two recruiting class THIS YEAR and Alabama leads the top 20 in NIL money per player, even topping Georgia and Texas.
Edit: That was a couple of days ago on the NIL money. Georgia has passed Bama as well as Texas and Ohio State. Bama is still 4th. I think this reflects a couple of losses of the day's news because the player average has gone DOWN per player by $4k. The latest numbers were updated earlier today so that makes sense.

What hurt Saban more was the transfer portal and players basically having no locked in commitment to the school. He used to get all the 5 stars for every position group and play the best and basically hold the rest hostage. Once they were able to move around to other programs, other programs started to win.

Meh, I don’t blame him. The deck started to be stacked against him, you don’t say he ran after all the skins on the wall at 72 years old.
