I agree. The current state of the rivalry naturally arose after Saban got to Bama. It will be interesting to see if it persists, as is, beyond Saban.
When I was kid, it was hate UT first and root against AU second.
LSU was no less a competitive game in the 80s until 2007, but my dad liked them when not playing Bama, so I did. Still do.
If it was a rivalry then, it was one that was friendly and built on respect. That transitioned to "a bit" more
I'd call it a disproportional rival at best, today.
When Saban retires, I think it returns to the pre-Bama Saban type of "rivalry" for both sides.

Why does it matter?

We got some natural rivalry games here that have tremendous fan interest, whether it’s Auburn, Tennessee and LSU. If you’re only going to play one of those, somebody is gonna be disappointed. I think if we eventually expand the schedule in the league, which probably will happen someday with that many teams, and you have three-fixed, probably have a little better chance of that happening,” said Saban.
Game, Set, Match. Debate over mfers.
That is what Saban feels about LSU. That is great, but Saban does not equate to all former players, AD's, coaches, alums, etc.
So that statement by Saban needs some context.

Saban is from West Virgina. What does he know about Alabama's natural rivals.
But sure, since Alabama and LSU are charter SEC teams, they are rivals, and the East/West divisions made it moreso, but Alabama's traditional bood rivals are Auburn and Tennessee. LSU is at least behind those 2, and with Texas and Oklahoma coming to the SEC I could see one or both them becoming more a rival than LSU.
Kind of a trivial thing imo.

Lies! They only circle easy games on their game calendar!

Saban can be wrong sometimes. Also just this week Saban said:
"I think as many of these types of fan-interest, rivalry games, whatever you want to call them"
He called it a "fan interest" game

So many teams build their entire seasons around playing Alabama. Not every team can do it with future scheduling, though.
Poor guys.
Poor guys.

LSU has no rivals.
LSU's true Rival is Tulane University.

Are you 15 years old? You post like a child.
And, all of your family "accolades" sound like bullshite.
His family accolades spilled all over the "As the Plains Burn" thread back in 2010 when his family member worked for the FBI and assisted in the Cam Newton/Auburn NCAA investigation. He also had family who knew Coach Bryant well and was directly involved with LSU athletics when Nick Saban was HC, etc................

I think he also had some dealings with Jimmy Carter somewhere along the way. Or maybe it was Bill Clinton. Maybe both. I can’t keep all his tales straight.
I will say this thread is bizarre, even by SEC Rant and TutHillTiger standards.

You mfers ran up the score last year after we laid off in 2919 and what goes around comes around. Stay on your side of the damn river and out of SEC West business. I will continue to wish you hell.
