I'm not arguing for Bama to get in. I'm arguing against the idea that Bama should be eliminated based solely on the fact that they didn't win their conference or division.

Agree.
How does it work out if you give all of the teams who don't make the championship an automatic loss?
In other words, if TCU or USC wins, they are 11-2. You compare them to an 11-2* Alabama.
Seems to me that is a reasonable way punish a team that doesn't make its conference championship.
In this case, I'd rank TCU with a win over OU ahead of Alabama. USC might be a tougher call, but USC would have wins over the equivalent of three LSUs.

After thinking about this a good bit lately, I've come to a different conclusion than I had at the start. I don't think Alabama deserves to get in, period. They played a rather soft schedule and their "signature" wins came against a 3-loss LSU team which lost to Troy, and a 4-loss Mississippi State team which lost to dumpster fire Ole Miss. Alabama had it's shot against Auburn and played like complete shite. Ohio State or TCU having won their conference titles against really good teams would deserve to go to the CFP over a non-conference winning, divisional second-place Alabama, period.

Do you really think Bama, who barely beat Mississippi State and lost to Auburn the last two weeks is playing better football than a potential TCU team that has won three straight including a win over the No. 2 team in the country or an OSU team that has won 4 straight including a win over the No. 3 team in the country?
Conveniently leaving out that both those squads have 2 losses including a loss to teams that have lost 5 times

Let the gumps in.
They will embarrass themselves AGAIN with that poor excuse for a QB.

No mulligan needed. I'm perfectly
Content with a 11-1 season & a bowl game. We had our chance & failed.

If Georgia or Auburn wins, then no, Alabama does not deserve to be in the playoff.
Sorry Nick, all of your politicking will not work this time

Georgia is out after Saturday when they get another beat down.
Bama ain't getting in, they blew it

You are correct on that. The outcome of the SECCG has no bearing on whether or not Bama makes the CFP. Bama's fate will be determined by the Big 10 and/or Big XII title games.

I'm not lobbying for Bama either, but the key games are Oklahoma/TCU and Ohio State/Wisconsin.

before I watched the MsSt and Auburn games I would agree with him. But after those games I don't believe Bama is what they have been.

Michigan would easily have a winning record in the SEC.. that makes them quality. IMO can't count Miss St. as a quality win if you don't count Michigan.
They've played #19 Michigan St, #9 Penn St, #3 Wisconsin, #8 Ohio St. Three top-10 teams (4 top-25). They are 8-4.

I keep seeing all these pro-Ohio St posts and they almost always leave out what will be the most remarkably unprecedented thing the committee will have to think about this year (or in past):
A 31 point blowout loss to an unranked team!!!!
Just to put that in perspective, there are 0 other teams (even in "others receiving votes") of the Coaches or AP Polls that have anywhere close to such a lopsided loss to an unranked team. Not Troy, not Fresno St. . .
Well, aside from Northwestern (Wisconsin's only decent win) who lost by 24 to Duke.
I guess you could give honorable mention to Ohio State's quality win Michigan State for losing at home by 30 Notre Dame.
Every team that could get in this year has blemishes on their resume but a 31 point loss to an unranked opponent is simply unprecedented.
Yet, I keep seeing Ohio State's resume posted without even much mention of it (if even at all).

If Oklahoma wins they are most certainly in. If Wisconsin wins, how do you not let the undefeated Big 10 champion in?
Although TCU is a good defensive team, I think OU is a better team overall. Now, if OSU beats Wisconsin maybe Bama has a shot, but , if Auburn wins Saturday, Nick Saban will have to be considered a "beloved" creature in God's eyes.
Also, don't pooh pooh Wisconsin....yes their strength of schedule is not all that great , but they are 12-0 and they possess a defense that simply frustrates their opponents .....much like Bama defenses.
If Wisconsin wins and Auburn wins
Clemson
Wisconsin
Oklahoma
Auburn
If Georgia wins and OSU wins
Georgia
Clemson/Miami
Oklahoma
OSU (due to politics)
Personally I think the last thing the committee wants is a non conference champion in the playoff
Also look for a bunch of inane talk about allowing UCF in as the week draws on.

And you are basing that on...?
If they put non-champ Bama in, it won't be at the expense of the SEC champ.
Last year, they put tOSU in a the expense of the Big 10 champ that beat tOSU.
Why do you think they'd be willing to do the latter, but not the former?
Posted on 11/28/17 at 4:19 pm to bamawriter
No two teams from the same conference has been selected by the committee- why do you think they would start now? Especially for a team that not only didn't win their conference, they didn't win their own division or play in the CCG.

You are not a division champ. ACCEPT THAT FACT. It's not like you and undefeated team bring denied a chance like Auburn was in 2004. What makes Bama better than a 1 loss WISCONSIN if OSU beats them. They at least played in their their championship clflgame and will be 12-1 vs 11-1 Bama. You would likely lose to UGA to be 11-2 if you had to play the 13th game.
If auburn beater UGA again, both should get consideration over Bama.
