On Monday at the Harbet Center before speaking to the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was asked if he had any thoughts on the targeting call.

“I don’t really want to make a comment on it,” Saban said.

“I think we’ve got lots of people who make those decisions. It’s a player safety rule. We’ve got people in the booth who look at replays, and that’s why we do it -- so they get it right. I don’t think it’s my place to make a comment on it.”

It's almost like he has a stake in the decision and is pleased that his employees made the right call.

Translation: I can't say so because I'll get fined, but they fricked that call up. Badly.

Translated: So you want me to piss off the league office by calling them stupid or piss off LSU by saying they got it right? Yea, no thank you.

Yeah, even as an LSU fan he was in no position to answer that question. It's a lose lose for him.

You realize the SEC takes a major stance against coaches speaking negatively about the officials, right? It doesn't matter if they were in the coaches' game or not.

The key is that he doesn't feel that it is his place to comment one way or another, and it isn't. I'm not sure why people would ask a coach about a play that occurred in a game he didn't participate in.
