There's a difference between a DL coach being in the war room and seeing Kiffin make his offensive gameplans and a head coach watching his LB coach run his defense.
Everyone knows that Saban runs his own defense. It's evidenced by the fact that Steele has run a 4-3 at Clemson and LSU yet was in a 3-4 system at Alabama. It's Saban's system.
