It's funny that people think these things go one way.

It's almost as if the defensive side has a little more of an advantage in these situations.

There's a difference between a DL coach being in the war room and seeing Kiffin make his offensive gameplans and a head coach watching his LB coach run his defense.

Coach O would likely not even be in most of those meetings, as he'd likely be in the defensive meetings as a defensive coach. Most is done in individual groupings, anything gone over as a team is mostly basic stuff. You're not gonna make an offense sit through a defensive gameplan and vice-versa.

Steele didn't just sit there his entire tenure at Bama, coaches bring individual ideals to the table. His input mattered, and it reflected in the defense.

Look at the OLB Coach, philosophy at the position has changed several times. Thompson had a way, Sunseri had a way, Thompson brought his way back, and now Bama leads the SEC in sacks with Lupoi there. His philosophies have shaped the position, he's not just taking orders from Saban. Same with Steele with the ILBs.

I guess there are no excuses for LSU then. Clear advantage. This is the year!

Go watch USC with Kiffin and USC after Kiffin in 2013.

Coach O was a better HC and motivator than Kiffin, point

At that point it was Clay Helton's offense to call, which the scheme may have stayed intact, but it was his preferences that made it different.

Coach O changed the offense. He knew what Kiffin was doing wrong and played to the team's strengths. I wouldn't be surprised if LSU knows exactly what Alabama is doing on offense.

Exactly, I can only hope Bama beats themselves.

Seeing what the on field result was enough to force a change in philosophy, most defensive guys like ball control offense. Kiffin sucks in regards to knowing when he's wrong, because he'll still do it until it works once. He never wanted Kessler, he wanted his handpicked QB Wittek to get the job. There's talk about having a favorite now at Bama in Barnett because it's "his QB".

I doubt either coach gives any major advantage to each team in regards to this knowing the other's scheme, and what little that they do, it still comes down to talent and execution...
