I don't think anyone really knows what Saban said to Kiffin or what kind of advice he actually gave him except for Saban and Kiffin.
We don’t know specifics, but we know he didn’t advise him to stay at Ole Miss

Won’t sane people laugh in his face?
I mean, he left a team when they needed him most. His departure could not come at a worse time if he tried.

I agree, but he said Saban and Carroll advised him to do all this.
I don't doubt that they advised him to go to LSU if he's telling them he really wants to go there.
It's like if I have a friend who cheated on his wife and says he just doesn't love his wife anymore and I'm just hopelessly in love with this other chick and all we do is fight and we went to counseling and my heart ain't it, blah blah. You might say (even though you think it's awful that he cheated on his wife) the marriage is beyond fixing and just tell him it's probably best to move on.
If he comes out and says, well my best friend told me to divorce her, that's true. But it'd be missing a lot of context to the situation.
He wanted to go to LSU from the start. That was his biggest want. If Ole Miss hadn't been a playoff team, none of this happens. He was never gonna stay at Ole Miss. Don't think he ever really strongly considered it. He was hoping somehow, someway, he could have his cake and eat it too. And that just was never gonna happen. No AD truly looking after his university was gonna do that.

My wife asked what outfit i liked for her to wear for thanksgiving dinner. Does it mean I am a fraud and hypocrite for not also wearing a red turtleneck and boots?
It is almost like we are different people.

I don’t pretend to think players are expected to be loyal in today’s college football and don’t think Lane does either. He said as much in his postgame presser Friday

Crazy that Saban was the only coach that was able to do this and get away with it.

Thanks for the honesty.
Does character matter?

But the whole idea that Lane could stay on and coach the Ole Miss team was just bonkers.
Yeah and I disagreed with Saban's take on that situation because he himself told Lane to pack his bags and get the hell out one week before the National Championship game after he accepted the FAU job.

Gotta argue this point.
There was a time when Bama’s defense was doing things that no other college team had ever done. It’s true that they could do these things because of superior talent, but the schemes, assignments & execution, especially in the defensive backfield, were way more than other teams could prepare for.
Go back & look at the teams that were hot & having a great season, only to be throttled by Bama’s defense

Want to take a guess who hired Saban at LSU, and is is his close butt buddy to this day?
Look, just because you would suck Sabana's dick on the 50 yard line as the halftime show, does not change the facts.

Define what you mean by that. Kiffin did his job at Ole Miss and did it well. As long as he brings that same energy and commitment to winning football games he’s doing what he’s supposed to do as far as I’m concerned.

After all of this, who will ever take LSU seriously when they gripe about in-game officiating, the SEC’s supposed favoritism towards Bama, etc?
Won’t we all just laugh?
It’ll be like Bill Clinton preaching against adultery.

LSU is better than they were 2 days ago, Ole Miss is worse
These are assumptions. Educated ones to an extent and not necessarily bad takes, but they are takes.
When Urban Meyer was hired, many felt his rinky dink offense would never work in power conference like the SEC.
When we hired a DC who had never been a head coach to replace a guy who had won 2 SEC championships and finished with ten wins or more in a season more times than not over 15 years, we were told we were fools.
It's college football. What I've learned in four plus decades of following it is things rarely go exactly as you expect. That's from games, to seasons, to coaching stints.

A team with a majority of starters who left their former teams in a similar fashion.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game. This is the current state of college athletics.

He just gave him sound advice for today’s environment. It’s each man for himself, players and all. Players aren’t loyal.
We had a receiver make a game winning catch against Auburn in the iron bowl and the next year he was playing for Texas .

Just think. If Mizzou brass was smart, they would have accepted their role in the Big Ten, probably would have gone 10-2 in that conference and been in the discussions for a playoff bid. But here you are stuck with the blue bloods.
