At no point will Jimbo Fisher ever become the "don" of SEC head coaches. At no point will Texas A&M become the dominant program in this league. And at no point will Texas A&M win the SEC or a CFP National Championship. Nick Saban could retire tomorrow, and all of those things would still be true.

Do you think Saban would risk distracting his team? Heck to the No.

No way this is real.

Looks like Saban is planning on coaching into his 80's to achieve some long term goals just like Bowden and Paterno did.

I hope not, it was sad watching those two coach until they died. Saban has nothing else to prove. I know Gumps want him to stay but damn.

Seriously why should Saban give a frick about coaching the most games? Paterno and Bowden will never hold a candle to him regardless of how “long” he coaches..

I have a feeling Saban will reserve that moment for himself. Not through the team, through the media etc. He will dictate the time and place in which he calls it quits. Sans a health issue/things out of his control.

Twelve more years of Saban dominance is killing some posters and will run off a lot more coaches from the SEC.

10 months ago he said he it was no longer contributing in a positive way he would consider retirement. We are currently in the playoffs. I’d say that still counts as positive.

Right. I think he’s a few seasons from calling it but he’d be especially stupid to leave when his 2022 team ought to be better than this squad he surprised the nation by winning the SEC with in 2021.

Not that i think saban will retire this year, he also did specifically say “i will not be the next head coach of Alabama”. And then he was the coach a few days later. So don’t ever take it as 100%
