Saban's deep love for The University of Alabama really is tremendous. Glad he finally found a place he loves and can call home

"This is going to be our legacy, Terry and I's legacy, that we're going to be as proud of as anything we've ever accomplished," Saban said.

That's cool. I didn't realize he was Catholic.

Grew up going to church there when Mike Shula was QB and would attend.

Very cool to see this come to fruition.

In so many ways, that tornado may have been the best thing that ever happened to Tuscaloosa and UA.

Glad we have him for about 10 more years. Going to break Bryant's record of 232 wins at Alabama.

I went to Mass there too when I was a student. It was a tiny little church back then

It's been years since I've been to mass there. 15 or so years I'd say. Wish I had gone to one last mass before they tore it down. So many memories there and so many lifelong friendships I formed there.

The University of Alabama, in the heart of the Deep South, has a surprisingly large Catholic student population.

Not sure why that's surprising to the whomever wrote the article.

The Mobile students are going to enjoy that.

Anyone who has spent time at Alabama or knows the middle/coastal parts of the state knows there are sizeable Catholic populations due to the French, much like Louisiana.

Makes sense it took a good Catholic to save those inbred Protestants

It is a little surprising it's as high as 7,000. That's almost 25% of the student population. I'd have never predicted it to be that high, even with the Mobile kids and how many out of state kids now attend UA.

My son graduated in May. His first year at UA, they were in the old church while they built the new church. Then they tore the old church down and built the Saban center. My son was very active in the college group and helped direct retreats. He will probably get married in that church.

I grew up in Prattville and graduated UA in 2010. I knew 1 catholic family growing up. Didn't notice a sizable catholic presence on campus.
