Little known fact: Sumlin actually directs Manziel from the sideline with a playstation controller.

Bear Bryant was 69 years old when he retired from coaching. Nick Saban is 61 and isn't as hampered by alcohol or tobacco as Bear was because he doesn't partake in those habits.

This.

The fark board needs to come up with a pic of Joe Pa with more stylish hair and a Bama windbreaker on to show Saban's life plan.

Dude will NEVER retire. Ever.

Maybe OPs plan will work for the class of like 2035.

They've been telling recruits he'll take the next open NFL job since at least 2008 and it hasn't worked. I suspect he'll handle the he's going to retire trich just fine too.

Starting with the 2014 class, If I'm a head coach trying to recruit against Alabama for a recruit, I would put together a slide show similar to something like this. . .

"2014 recruit - If you sign with Alabama, odds are pretty good that Saban will only be your head coach for 2-3 seasons, assuming you redshirt.

2015 recruit - If you sign with Alabama, odds are pretty good that Saban will be your head coach for only 1-2 seasons, assuming you redshirt.

(If Saban hasn't retired by now)

2016 recruit - If you sign with Alabama, odds are you get 1 season with him as your head coach.

I know you're committing to Alabama because of the opportunity he presents to win a championship and make it to the next level, but son, Nick Saban isn't going to be the head coach at Alabama much longer. You'd be better off committing to *insert school* because I have a track record of sending players to the NFL, you'd get earlier playing time, and we are building towards winning a/more championship(s)."

That's pathetic.

he needs to get out before he has a Woody Hayes meltdown moment, which is certainly foreseeable

They're still better off at Bama than at AU where fellow players will call you an N and make you sit in the back of the locker room.

Oh, my. Not "we have a better program." Not "our school is a better fit for you." Not "you will have a better chance at early playing time at our school." Not "we are fambly and are all in." No, what sinks Tide recruiting is a specious argument that Nick Saban might retire one day.

Okay.

Completely different scenario.

No actually your logic uses this exact same scenario.

Saban has never coached anywhere longer than 4 years so he'll be gone from Bama in 4 years was what we all heard in '07 and now you're saying everyone expects him to be gone in 3-5 years because that's all he has left before retirement.

So I guess we can also assume that he'll have 2-4 more National titles.
