They've been telling recruits he'll take the next open NFL job since at least 2008 and it hasn't worked

Not to mention that he's heading to Austin every year to take over the Longhorns job.

Did you have to use a pen and paper to get this straight in your head?

You have got to be kidding me. Looking at this OP tells me you have spent a lot of time putting this theory together. WTF? I would always rather have a top coach like Saban to go against. It makes our program have to work harder and improve. This is rather pathetic quite frankly, gtfo.

Saban and his retirement

"Come to my school because if you go to Alabama you will only get 1 measly year of coaching under Nick Saban and then have to settle for three years of playing for Kirby Smart."

So this is what it's come to.

Auburn's new strategy is "eventually Saban will get old."

Good God it's an awesome time to be a Bama fan
WTF has happened to Auburn?

Nick Saban is 61 and isn't as hampered by alcohol or tobacco as Bear was because he doesn't partake in those habits.

Umm...yeah he does. He just does not do it in public due to scrutiny.

I'll give him this. Coach Bryant smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish. Coach Saban chews at times and probably has a cocktail or two everyonce and awhile. HUGE difference between the two.

So you're saying that Saban constantly gets himself drunk and goes through two or three cartons of cigarettes every day?

No way Saban throws back a 5th of bourbon and chokes down 2 packs of unfiltered Chesterfield's a day. NO WAY!

Well, the statement said he did not partake. It said nothing about frequency of use. He chews tobacco daily. He drinks at night. How much he drinks only he knows because he refuses to do it around anyone other than family and friends.

I could care less what he does. It seems to be working.

Compared to Bryant, Kenny Stabler doesn't partake.

You know, some of us are still excited to play against on of the best coaches in college football. Alabama isn't some immortal god. Auburn has forever to go to being even a reasonable threat, but I want to beat Saban on his own terms.

I'd throw Namath in there as well for good measure. I've said this several times on the board, but my uncle worked at Tuscaloosa Regional Airport in those days, and dealt with the plane that Bryant used specifically. There were many a days that Tom would have to help Bryant into or out of the plane.
