What makes you so sure he understood?

I have no idea where you gathered I thought he was trying to emulate a 50s era cartoon.

I think he was trying to dress as some sort of black celebrity at a party of some sorts. And, in the last 20+ years, that has been more than sensitive in US culture. Is it racist? some certainly feel that way. Is it poor decision making? Yes, especially now given the benefit of hindsight after losing a 6 fugure job offer because of it.

Granted it was stupid to even do it but do we
know he posted it on social media ?

Waiting for the follow up story where the girl in the pic is fired from her job for posing with him.

Anything by definition that involves race is racism. It has morphed into anything that is done with the intent of discrimination. I do not think these type photos fit that definition, but we have a culture that is trying to bend over backwards to prove they are not racist. An element of society trying to take advantage of it.

We all make mistakes. I hate that today’s cancel culture holds things over people for the rest of their life.

It's so funny that no place in the article does it mention what he is apologizing for. He has been cancelled and they don't even have to say why.

People are so fricking soft these days.

Sadly I know too many people that would whistle blow to a person’s place of employment over a picture from a decade ago. Snakes.

Management's response to someone like that should be, "Were they employed here when this happened? No? Then I don't care. Thanks for reaching out."

Sadly, it won't happen that way...

Bingo......Pugh should have told them he voted for Joey and he would be good to go.

And that he was part Cherokee. That always helps.
