South Carolina fans are understandably excited about Spencer Rattler, but he struggled frequently at Oklahoma. Any regret over letting Hilinski transfer as he is 19-22, for 208 yards and 2 TDs in the first half today.

Mike Bobo ran him off. However, he has not been good the last two years. Fighting to win starting job at Northwestern. I don't believe that he is an SEC level QB.

To be fair, Nebraska only won 3 games last year.

No he didn't. He had a great 1st season as a starting QB and was a Heisman favorite going into his sophomore campaign.

Seems like it could have been Bobo that sucked

He did struggle frequently, his first P5 game at Oklahoma he threw 3 interceptions. Decision making has always been an issue for him. Stating otherwise is revisionist history meant to erase last year so Gamecock fans can hype him up. No reason to do that of course, he is a talented QB.

He had a rough start in his first conference game as a redshirt freshman and didn't get better, have a great year, and go into his sophomore season a Heisman prospect?

Tell me more about my own program that I watch and you don't.

I've watched every game Rattler played.

Yes, the Oklahoma fan is using revisionist history so Gamecock fans can hype up Rattler.

I hope Hilinski does well. Mike Bobo and Muschamp did him dirty.

And pretty much put that to rest after his first game against Tulane?

He was only in the Heisman conversation because of hype.

There was nothing eye popping about his stats.

Pretty much! The entire offense struggled all season the same way they struggled with Tulane, even after Rattler was benched and Caleb took over.

140-187 1,483 yards
74.9 cmp%
11TDs 5INTs

Such awful stats.

No it was cuzza da REFS!

Nobody cares about Max Johnson. Not LSU, not even aggot.

Is this thread really asking if we would take Hilinksi over Rattler?

Because fun fact, no.

I mean, he was benched in that "Heisman prospect" season. So yeah I'd say it wasn't all butterflies and rainbows. He has a decision making issue, if he gets it fixed he can be as good as anyone.

And watching him that year, we had a frustrating season where we counted WRs dropped 10 easy TDs that he put on the money. They had the dropsies all season long. But yeah, Rattler is terrible.

That's the point, his "Heisman candidacy" was built more on the hype around Lincoln Riley as a QB guru and Rattler being a 5* than anything that actually happened on the field.

He was benched. Caleb came out and heroicly won the texsa game and then began to have the same struggles the rest of the season. Caleb's stats were propped up by big games against defenseless TCU and Tech. He was pedestrian in every other game and no better than what Rattler was benched for.

I don't know too many QBs who are going to be successful being asked to repeatedly throw downfield into 7 and 8 man zone coverage.
