His best season was a 3 loss season. We can certainly pull that off again.

Which would be equaling not topping what he did for you...

Pretty shitty take from a school that has State's sloppy seconds in their athletic offices.

Pretty shitty retort since it doesn't really make sense.

State has a ceiling. He did all he could do there. Soooo what's your point?

Mullen was never going to even equal that again.
This was your best season under Mullen. Just enjoy it.

“The public nature of what happened can’t be ignored,” one source told me.
That “public nature” is Florida – the university that holds itself above the fray by winning the right way – was last week placed on 1 year of probation by the NCAA for its head football coach not following NCAA rules.

quote:

Mullen had impermissible contact with a recruit, setting up the planned meeting via a text to tell the recruit when he would be at his high school in Seattle. The NCAA didn’t give the name of the recruit, but it’s not difficult to figure out that it was likely 5-star linebacker Sav’ell Smalls, who eventually signed with Washington.

quote:

While this may seem ticky-tack on the outside, it’s far from that within the Florida administration. Florida was a rogue school in the late 1980s, breaking NCAA rules with the rest of the SEC’s outlaws at the time.
From the moment former athletic director Bill Arnsparger hired Steve Spurrier in 1990, everything changed. Spurrier declared Florida didn’t have to cheat to win the SEC, and then went out and proved it.

quote:

Arnsparger, a tough disciplinarian as an NFL and college coach, was hired to clean up the mess at Florida. Jeremy Foley then took over in 1992 and took winning with character to another level. The Gators, along with Stanford, had been the NCAA’s model sports program since, never receiving NCAA probation and becoming an annual fixture at the top of the Director’s Cup all-sports standings.
All that ended with Mullen’s NCAA case. And now it appears Mullen is looking at the NFL.

Mullen’s team was unprepared and got clobbered, and he responded with yet another bizarre press conference.

No university wants to be embarrassed, especially by an employee paid millions to coach football.
Understand this: For the second straight year, Mullen hasn’t yet received a contract extension despite a 29-9 record and 3 straight New Year’s 6 Bowl appearances.

Of course he has NFL interest. He is an offensive guru. That is the current want at head coach. Even an average Kliff got the HC job because of his play calling and QB development. Really want to tell me Mullen can not do both of those things well?

Mullen accomplished more at State than he has at Florida so your "ceiling" comment is retarded.

And before you come back with "he went to Atlanta," you can spare us all from that BS. Everyone here knows the SEC East sucks. Mullen would have had three or four trips to Atlanta if State were in the East.

The one with the ceiling is Mullen, and he's hitting his head on it now. Enjoy.

You probably didn’t watch him at MSU and just have no idea what you’re talking about. The no wins against ranked teams in the last week of the season is ridiculous. People always make up these weird stats which equate to “Bama always beat him.” No kidding. Alabama beats a lot of teams. You sound deranged and not open to actual discourse, so I’ll cut it short here.

Name-calling and subjective opinion-based statements such as “you probably didn’t watch him at MSU” really hold a lot of merit but I’m going to go ahead and tell you you have no clue what you’re talking about. People love saying Mullen is an incredible coach yet he has nothing to show for it in 12 years. They also love saying while at MSU he was playing with less talent than everyone else yet he lost to South Alabama in his 8th year as a head coach. He never defeated a team that finished ranked at MSU. In 2014, his 10-3 State team’s best victory was against an Auburn team that finished 8-5. He is 4-10 against teams that finished ranked while at Florida. That’s not good.

I’d love to hear some actual facts from you instead of ranting about how I never watched him at MSU. It appears as if you simply clapped your hands at the flashing lights on the television and didn’t do any actual research on Mullen. He has won nothing in 12 years as a head coach. I’m not going to revert to name calling, your lack of substance and facts concludes everything I need to know about your intelligence on the matter. Lemme know when you find the info backing your claim Mullen is a great coach. Until then, try your best to stay within the lines of your coloring books.

UF has won a national championship in every major mens sport.
Mississippi State has never and will never win anything, in any major men's sport.

I said Dan Mullen has a ceiling. Reading is fundamental.

You gator fans should have a little more self-confidence. Jesus Christ. You have one of the best programs in the country. Expect more out of your head coach instead of getting your jimmies rustled at us little ole MSU fans who are just educating you on his obvious shortcomings.

Damn, there's some serious salt in this thread.

Relax, it's just college football. If I was gonna be upset over losing, I wouldn't have chosen to support Mississippi State.

Also, I'm a little confused. Do gator fans want Mullen fired or not? Fill me in!

You started playing football in 1895 and have one conference championship to show for it. If you're a boomer or younger you weren't even alive for it.

Did you feel that? You just hit your head on the ceiling.

What does any of this have to do with Dan Mullen's ceiling, you dumb frick? Go change your tampon.

All I feel are your tears. They're a little gritty. Must be all that salt.
