Basketball never.

The guy is so close to being a great coach if he could stop self sabotaging. I’ve never seen anyone like him before. When he was at MSU, I used to think this is a man destined to win a national championship. But as he gets more exposure on the national stage, I’m half convinced he never will.

So close? Mullen has been a head coach in this conference for 12 years and he has never won a game against a ranked team in the last 3 weeks of the season. 0-13. He’s 4-10 vs teams that finished ranked while he’s been at Florida. His best team at State - the “#1 ranked team” that everyone quotes as why he is a great coach - didn’t beat a single team that finished with less than 5 losses and State ending up losing 3 of their last 4 games. Mullen lost to South Alabama is Year 8 at State. There is literally no reason why he is constantly mentioned as the coaching savant that so many people claim he is.

I hope he stays because there’s no fricking way UF will frick up his replacement. They’re used to winning titles and they will for sure hire a top notch coach.

You probably didn’t watch him at MSU and just have no idea what you’re talking about. The no wins against ranked teams in the last week of the season is ridiculous. People always make up these weird stats which equate to “Bama always beat him.” No kidding. Alabama beats a lot of teams. You sound deranged and not open to actual discourse, so I’ll cut it short here.

Chadwell is a good one, Adam Gase is another one.

The beloved Mullen is Florida dream job. He isn't going anywhere!

Who would Florida hire this late in the game? They’d end up like TN with Dooley or Alabama with Shula

Mullen is weird af and attention whoring but there aren’t many available coaches that would be upgrades.

His presser after the Cotton Bowl ensured he’ll be a Gator lifer.

At MSU it was “I could win a championship at a big program”.

At Florida it’s “I want to get to the NFL”.

I’m sure it will be something else if he does get to the NFL.

This.

Reading there may be some issues with Mullen & Stricklin.

Were there drama between these two at MSU?

The Houston Texans will. They have proven they will hire anyone.

Not that I remember. In fact, Loafers was the reason Mullen was hired at Florida. I always assumed they were cool with one another.

He can coach up an offense and develops QBs to no end. He doesn't like to recruit or either his personality is so off-putting he can't reel in the big fish. Either way, the NFL is a lot less hassle.

NFL protocol requires that every team interview a special needs person for any vacancy. Merlin will be on every teams list.

The more likely answer is that there's issues with Mullen & OBC and OBC is leaning on Stricklin.

Stricklin doesn't have a backbone.

Damn. I thought Gators fans were hard to please.

Here's a reminder: You are Mississippi State. Your rebuild won't top what he did for you guys.

Pretty shitty take from a school that has State's sloppy seconds in their athletic offices.
