With the playoff expanding, there’s going to be a lot less pressure on losing a game or two in the regular season. Auburn can afford to keep the schedule tough by playing 3 big name rivals every year. I’m more concerned about the future of the SEC championship game. That’s got to go. Can’t expect a college team to play as many as 17 games in a year.

Sankey recently said an 8-game/no-divisions model (1 yearly rivalry, 7 rotational games) is also a viable option.
Rivals:
AL-AU
AR-MO
FL-GA
KY-SC
LS-TA
OM-MS
OK-TX
TN-VU
Regardless of whether the new scheduling model is 8 or 9 games, I want the SEC to ban FCS opponents and the CFP to disqualify teams that play them.

OU and A&M are givens. I'm not convinced Arkansas is who we want as a third. We don’t give a damn about Arkansas and they have a pathological obsession with us. We get absolutely nothing out of playing them and beating them. That isn't a rivalry.

No, just no. Screw an 8 game schedule with 16 teams in the league. With expanded playoff schedule. There is no reason to play more 1 pure cupcake each season. After that it should be one out of conference power 5 regional rival, and one at least mid major, if not another power 5 out of region game.

Auburn natural rivals are Alabama and Georgia. The third team should be LSU or Florida.

This is one of the better ones I've seen overall. Most other scenarios I've seen have LSU losing what I consider our 3 biggest rivals: Bama, UF, and Auburn. I know we're farther west than the rest of the traditional SEC but I have no desire to be in the Big 8/SWC/12.

SEC needs to tell the schools who want the 8-game schedule to get bent. The schools that want to stay at 8 are the ones on the lower end of the football revenue scale who just want to go to a bowl every year. Tell them to kick rocks.
You don’t bring two new teams into the conference and then start killing historically important rivalries by only having 1 permanent opponent. Especially at a time where actual game attendance is down for most games and when going to 3 permanent opponents gives you the opportunity to rekindle the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry and keep most of the big games in the conference.

12-team playoff. 2 loss teams in the playoff will be as common as the sun coming up in the East. All of a sudden you are about to see a ton of HCs and ADs developing a backbone for 9 games.

The rivalry needs to come back on a yearly basis if possible, imo.
Why wouldn't AU folks be satisfied getting to play UF every other year? At least it's a semi-return to the old rivalry without forcing y'all into another stint of the toughest SEC schedule imaginable.

I just miss the old Florida Auburn rivalry, games are entertaining and fun. I won’t forget the 2016 and the 2007 edition of the rivalry.
IMO its either Florida or Vandy because the SEC needs to give us a break

Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Miss State
Arkansas: Missouri, Texas,
Auburn: Alabama, Florida, Georgia
Florida: Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina
Kentucky: Tennessee, Vanderbilt
LSU: Ole Miss, Texas A&M
Ole Miss: LSU, Miss State
Miss State: Alabama, Ole Miss
Missouri: Arkansas, Oklahoma
Oklahoma: Missouri, Texas,
South Carolina: Florida, Georgia
Tennessee: Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Texas: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M
Texas A&M: LSU, Texas
Vanderbilt: Kentucky, Tennessee
Assuming that the base format of games listed above are essentially locked in, I'd fill the rest of it out like this
Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Miss State
Arkansas: Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma (closest 2 to each other)
Auburn: Alabama, Florida, Georgia
Florida: Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina
Kentucky: Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina (kinda close, little bit of history, competitive series)
LSU: Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Mississippi State (most played opponent all time)
Ole Miss: LSU, Miss State, Vanderbilt (close campuses, long history)
Miss State: Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU (2nd most played opponent)
Missouri: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M (leftovers, old Big12 foes, good Texas recruiting showcase for Mizzou)
Oklahoma: Missouri, Texas, Arkansas (closest 2 to each other)
South Carolina: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky (proximity, history, competitive)
Tennessee: Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Texas: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M
Texas A&M: LSU, Texas, Mizzou (sorry)
Vanderbilt: Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi (2nd most played all time, 3rd closest SEC campus)

Do you even follow live college football?
3 parts to the equation
#1 TV Revenue
#2 Live Revenue (tickets + concessions + parking + etc)
#3 Donor Revenue
Tell the crossover schools like Florida / Florida State they have to drop that game to make ESPN happy and see what it does to the gate and donations.

The better long term solution is to encourage ALL SEC teams to develop long term OOC rivals for the end of the year games where a current game does not exist. Obviously games like Egg and Iron should remain season enders but why not.
Utx vs TCU
TAMU vs Tech
OU vs OK State
Mizzou vs ????
Vandy vs Wake
UGA does GT and Taters
Auburn does Taters
UK does Line Beards and did IU
UF does Free Shoes and Miami
SC does Taters and Tar Heels
Are you saying these games going away will not affect the bottom lines of both historically good and bad SEC schools?

Tennessee getting both Vandy and Kentucky as permanent opponents might help the W/L record, but not so good for their season ticket holders, even if Kentucky has been decent of late, generally both are traditionally the bottom two teams in the conference.

Again, LSU would lose its 3 biggest games and keep 3 teams from the SEC west that no one gets really excited about. Hell, I'd rather keep Arky than 2 or possibly all of those on your list.

One thing that no one seems to mention on scheduling is that every team must have a final weekend opponent. Open dates can fall anywhere on the rest of the schedule, but the final weekend must have a game.
So, these are set:
Non Conference
Florida - FSU
Georgia - GT
Kentucky - Louisville
South Carolina - Clemson
In State
Alabama - Auburn
Tennessee - Vandy
Ole Miss - Miss State
Texas - Texas A&M
This leaves Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and LSU without a dance partner UNLESS Texas vs Texas A&M happens elsewhere on the schedule.
Will this mean that LSU continues to end its season vs A&M? If not, we will probably get Oklahoma as our final weekend rival. The last possibility is that we rotate playing Oklahoma and Arkansas at the end, and the others among that four do the same as well.
In an unrelated note, I still believe that LSU-Alabama will be protected at the behest of ESPN. It's been the most watched game, and they'll want it to continue every year.

LSU will likely just be at the whims of the rest of the conference because mostly as far as I can tell in the past, they mostly just always claim that every other team is not their rival...
