I understand the lack of tournament success over his career from a blue bloods perspective, but no coach and team has beaten Cal & Kentucky more than Barnes and Tennessee since he got to Knoxville.
Barnes is the only coach in the league with a winning record vs Cal if I'm not mistaken.

Dale Brown went 17-18 against Kentucky from 1978-92, and he would have been a bad hire for Kentucky.

Dale Brown would have been a great hire for 95% of the schools around the country during that time frame. I agree though that UK would have been one of a handfu of Universities that wouldn't have been a splash hire for. In particular after following Rupp.

I don't remember. I know that every single year for quite awhile now, any time a coaching position opens up (not just in basketball) it eventually comes up.
