Not anymore. We are tied and "own" the tiebreaker for worst.
We should be a top 2 or 3 basketball revenue school.

How the hell did we make $7.99 million?!

I agree. I think it's kind of silly to avoid former rivals in any sport. I understand the thought behind it, but IMO having a legit hatred filled rivalry helps recruiting. Those are games kids grow up dreaming of playing in. When the Big 8 existed, Nebraska vs Oklahoma was THE game in that region of the country. I doubt many kids dream of playing in a Nebraska vs Northwestern game today.

Probably $7.3 million in guaranteed seats to go along with boxes and $690k in general admission tickets, hot dogs, and nachos. I'm willing to bet you guys sell a lot of tickets on the opening weekend of baseball (that's not trolling...we do too and our arena is half empty for most games too...)

Yep, and it's especially silly in basketball. Maybe not every year, but you could easily set up a rotation of teams every 3 years or so if you decided your fans wanted it.
Texas A&M could play 2 of the 3 of Baylor/Texas/Texas Tech every year and rotate it. Georgetown could play 2 of the 3 of Syracuse/St Johns/Connecticut.
Georgetown and Syracuse did or are doing that in the future if I remember correctly.

Of all the conference realignment stuff, the ones that it seems to me would make me the maddest as an alum of the school are :
Maryland to the Big Ten
West Virginia to the Big XII
UConn getting left behind in the American
I can't even fathom what a Maryland fan thinks about leaving UVA, North Carolina and Duke behind for Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. That would suck.
And West Virginia, talk about not having any neighbors. That's still just weird.

Without consistent accounting practices among schools and without financial statements, profit means absolutely nothing from one school to another.

8. Vanderbilt (8)
Considering we have the smallest student body by a considerable margin (last I saw, we were barely 1/3rd the size of the next smallest), this is gratifying in a moral victory sense. I'm pretty sure that if we corralled every single student and faculty member, we still couldn't fill up, say, Rupp.

SEC 2014 Total Attendance (Revenue Rank)
1. Kentucky (1)
2. Arkansas (3)
3. Tennessee (2)
4. Florida (7)
5. Alabama (4)
6. South Carolina (10)
7. Missouri (5)
8. Vanderbilt (8)
9. LSU (12)
10. Ole Miss (13)
11. Mississippi St (14)
12. Georgia (9)
13. Auburn (6)
14. Texas A&M (11)
Yep, this is kinda yesterday's news, isn't it? USC is currently 4th in the SEC in average home attendance (21st nationally), and 3rd behind only UK (which is #2 nationally to Syracuse) and Arkansas in total accumulated home attendance (13th nationally - we played 3 more home games than Tennessee did).
We just set the new home-game average attendance record for a season in Colonial Life Arena, which is therefore the all-time program record. We're doing OK.....

This is a good headline but not accurate for Kentucky. I know there are some good, passionate UK football fans on this site, but Kentucky basketball will always be king. If you factor in TV revenue, there's no way football earns more in Kentucky.
You can go ask the man or woman on the street in Cadiz, Prestonsburg, or Georgetown, any time of the year, and their main concern is how Cal is doing getting the Cats in shape for the next season. Football is a nice diversion for the fall and we all want them to succeed but football is a casual interest while hoops is a passion. Maybe Louisville/Jefferson Co is different but not anywhere else.
Kentucky basketball draws huge ratings, every game, and almost all of their games are televised, most on a national network. This is in addition to all of the ticket proceeds, gear and other stuff people buy. It is all people in Kentucky really care about.
Perhaps this doesn't make much of a dent against the other 13 teams and fan bases, so overall I'm sure football earns way more revenue, but not in Kentucky.

Want to bet? Football is at the point where it's almost inherently a bigger money-maker than basketball. I don't have the numbers, but I'd wager a decent sum that even at Kentucky, the football program makes more than the basketball program.

football also costs more. So ranking by revenue would be different than ranking by profit/loss

Maybe it's my Alabama math but did we add a 15th team when I wasn't paying attention?
