These were two really bad quarters of football by both teams (especially on offense). All joking aside, both teams have a lot of work to do. Enjoyed the game, enjoyed the banter, but I think this coming weekend will be more telling about the current state of the program.

I think it’s evident that MSU has better prepared athletes.

I was so happy we were down by so little at the half.

We got pushed around. But Costello was getting pressured by Gaye all game and came away with 600. Damn.

That QB of yours is special and I have a feeling MSU will have a fun year.

We can make any excuse in the book but it doesn't by one iota take away from what the state offense and defense did in that game.

KJ threw to some wide open guys sometimes, but other times was dropping some absolute dimes. The pick 6 was a bad throw but the other one was a great play by a true fresh defender. This dude is good and is in the perfect system. Also the perfect system for your wide receivers. You don't have a "stud" go to wr IMO. But they are clearly smart and well disciplined. Maybe 1 or 2 drops all game? And Kylin Hill in space is not anything any team wants to go against and he will be doing it all year.

One thing not really talked about was you D-coordinator. He had an awesome gameplan, took away the run and positioned guys into throwing lanes all day. Also at times your DBs just made some good plays. You will get beat on big plays a bit bc u just don't have the dudes to compete with some of the top end WRs in this league but if you tackle and stay in position like you did in this game they will be a surprising adequate D.

I was as impressed by state as I was dissappointed in the TIgers. Can only hope we take it, win the next two and look like a different team vs Florida.

This may be the snake-bit State fan in me, but I have a bad feeling about Saturday. Feleipe Franks is a much more proven commodity than Myles Brennan.

When I re-watched I saw Fred Peters, a guy who should have been one of our biggest strengths in the secondary, get beat on two really poorly thrown jump balls.

Esaias Furdge was burnt like toast on that interception where Brennan's arm got hit.

Osiris Mitchell is really good (great name too) even though he doesn't really fit the mold of Leach WRs

Leach is a great playcaller but everyone knew that already.
He is going to find mismatches but yeah how does MSU respond against a team like Ark that is should beat really bad. He will be bowl eligible every year at MSU and may even run off a 10 win season if Saban would ever retire.

With that said, Brennan missed some wide open WR's and on the int that was tipped McMath was wide open and it would have been 7.

MSU defense still has a long ways to go but the offense will keep them in most games.

SEC West will be even tougher when you have to play really good play callers like Leach and Kiffin. Not to mention you know Pittman is going to have the Hogs play really tough hard nosed football.

That dude has come a long long way from dropping the TD that would have beat Florida two years ago.

The D coordinator led the country in rush yards allowed for a reason.

This is true, but there will be games where his inability to run out the clock will cost him. Ask UCLA.

I was blown away by State's WR corps being as good as they were.

State's secondary played better early than i thought they would. I know Myles couldnt decide shite but they played well.

Funny enough I re-watched some of the game Sat night because A&M looked so shitty.

I can't imagine how frustrating it was for LSU fans watching receivers consistently get behind the dbacks. They knew it was coming but it just kept happening over and over. They have the athletes so it was just a strange game.

State WR Osirus Mitchell said in his post game interview that by the 4th quarter, LSU DBs were telling state WRs that they were tired. I think as the game wore on, they were just out of gas.

Pellini should be fired before lunch today for never coming out of man coverage. He gassed his guys and gave up way too many big plays. After the 75 yard swing pass to Kylin Hill, Orgeron should have fired him right there on the field and taken over himself.
