1. Garrett Nussmeier - Heisman favorite, the next Joe Burrow. Finished 7-6.
Nussmeier was playing with an undiagnosed Spinal Cyst while playing behind one of the most poorly coached OL's in College Football/SEC/LSU football history. That OL was comprised of mostly Non-SEC caliber OL's that were recruited by that same incompetent OL coach.

This entire thread is just another pathetic attempt by compulsively obsessed Captain Howdy to take a shot at LSU.

The Captain is vainly trying to replace Serraneaux as the SEC Rant's King Attention Whore Nut Job.

How would you rerank these stud quarterbacks today?

Probably off the rookie NFL salaries, but who cares at this point in time... unless one of them is your returning QB.

You can't be serious. Cyst on spine found during combine.

Put out by his agent

Amazing it was discovered just before the draft and yet…

quote:

He has been asymptomatic since just prior to the Senior Bowl and all throughout the draft process; if that changes down the road, Nussmeier could undergo a minimally invasive procedure and miss just 2-3 weeks while stitches heal.

You can't help some of these folks.

It was pretty easy to see very early on that Nuss was injured in some way.

I think they figured injured Nuss > healthy MVB.

I clearly was taking a shot at Texas, Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida and Auburn too. But way to try to make it about you.

Nussmeier couldn't throw the ball nearly as well as he's capable because of an injury that Brian Kelly mismanaged the frick out of.

And his OL and playcaller were absolute dogshit.

He got done wrong last year. He's a good QB and will be on NFL rosters, maybe as a backup, but on rosters, for a while I think.

The real issue I have is he played against our cupcakes.

If he's hurt, rest him in games we don't need him.

In the Ole Miss game, he couldn't make 30 yard throws downfield that he used to make in his sleep. It was so obvious.

Yep, that was my opinion in September.

So why didn’t the cyst impact him during the draft process while still present?

If you watched LSU football in 2024 and 2025, and knew anything about sports, you could see he couldn't throw the ball the way he was capable. It was really bad. He became a gunslinger with a nerf gun. It was tough to watch.

The Elite 11 king. He was great when there were no defenders and only 7-on-7. He was completely incapable of playing under pressure in a real game.

OU fans tried to tell Auburn fans this when he transfered.

He made fools of OU fans before he made fools of Auburn fans...

I guess it is fortunate there aren't really any UNLV football fans to be made made fools of. I guess they are just lucky Arnold isn't a basketball player.

quote:

“Former LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier underwent tests at the NFL combine that revealed a cyst on his spine — the root cause of the persistent oblique pain that derailed his 2025 season, sources say,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared on “X” Monday morning.

“The cyst was pressing on a nerve, causing discomfort in Nussmeier’s oblique. He has been asymptomatic since just prior to the Senior Bowl and all throughout the draft process; if that changes down the road, Nussmeier could undergo a minimally invasive procedure and miss just 2-3 weeks while stitches heal.”

Extensive rest helped it become asymptomatic after the season as inflammation subsided and if our medical staff had found it, he would've had a better 2025 after a brief surgery.

However, our OL and playcalling was still shite. I think we win the Ole Miss game, at least though. He missed so many throws he used to routinely make and just wouldn't even try for wide open deep balls.

Arch is at the bottom. Lagway might be an okayish QB under a better coach.
