Not a law expert at all, but if she had testified in defense of the players, wouldn't that ruin the case, alcohol or not?

She's not going to testify for them.

And the Rant just wants football players on the field, rapists or not (a bit of hyperbole, but not much).

Or some think this just creates another hurdle for women who have legitimately been raped. Because it absolutely creates the "she's just a slut that doesn't want to be shamed" stereotype.

But by all means, continue stereotyping yourself.

Exactly. Someone is full of shite. I don't know who, but everyone can't be telling the truth.

So what am I suppose to call friends who work in Vanderbilt's athletic department?

I think it's pretty obvious whose lying at this point.

Do you really struggle this much with the English language? If you were really connected, you would keep your mouth shut about it like the rest of the department. Quit trying to be an "in the know" Rantard.

Every woman deals with it differently. If the charges weren't based upon her testimony, I'm not sure why there's a rush on this board to assassinate her.

Understandable. But most rape victims months later don't hop on TV to deny it happened. If anything, they tend to do everything they can to separate themselves from what happened and have a tendency to disconnect all together.

Because if she truly believes she wasn't raped, then she shouldn't have sit idly by while the lives of others were dramatically affected by it.

I'm not trying to act like i'm "in the know". I was defending the victim. I only elaborated when asked to "enlighten us".

Did she go on TV for an interview? Serious question. I didn't see that.

Who is the victim? She said she wasn't raped. The Players?

My apologies, I misread the OPs link. It read like they had spoken to the girl when it was posted.

Vandy can't have it both ways. Someone should pay for a crime. If she lied, she deserves to be punished. If she was raped, then the person or persons should be punished. If the DA was throwing out bogus charges, then he should face discipline.

From the OP link:
quote:

Exactly 8 months after an alleged rape inside a Vanderbilt University dorm room involving four former football players, we have a far different first hand account from the victim.

She talked to Fox17 about it. Not sure if the interview will be aired, but she went to a TV station at the least. Like I said, judgement reserved, but it's all very strange.

Did they talk to her in the street or schedule a sit down interview?

Eta: it's not at all clear that the TV station actually spoke to her or if they are relying on her testimony to police from a while back.

I knew nothing good was going to come from TMZ setting up shop in Nashville. I just thought we'd see it from TMZ first rather than a local fox affiliate running a misleading story.

They don't release the name of sexual assault victims so I'd like to think that she would have had to contact them. If a name was released, then it shouldn't have been.

Maybe that was worded strongly. She should have come forward sooner if that was the case. Also, if she never went to police or cooperated in the investigation she should have hired a lawyer to protect her from making terrible statements to the media.

you don't know what the frick has been going on behind the scenes so how in the hell can you say that with any certainty?

I'm sure they know who it was without her contacting them.
