Even though Florida can eat a goddamn mountain range of dicks for all I care, I do think it's fair to point out that the Suga Bow this year was on a Wednesday (right?). That probably hurt travel plans for a lot of people with jobs and shite.
In that sense, it's a bit unfair to see all the comparisons between the Compass Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. Yes, Ole Miss fans do travel well and we were really bowl hungry after watching Houston Nutt take a squirty shite on the 50 yard line of VHS (metaphorically speaking, of course), but our game was also on a Saturday in Birmingham. That made it practically a day trip for a lot of us.

Where do most UF grads move to for work when they leave Gainesville?
Too much is made about how close the Florida state line is to the Louisiana state line. West to South, Florida is a freaking huge state (by car).
I don't know where the grads live. But I doubt they are jamming up for work on the Alabama/Florida state line.

LOL glad someone else caught that. Looks like someone miserably failed the geography parts of elementary school.

Most uninteresting BCS matchup ever.
Can't wait until the playoffs because Bowls can go back to picking who they want.

The panhandle is essentially south Alabama.
The majority of UF grads that stay in Florida move south to the I-4 corridor of Tampa/Orlando, or further south to South Florida region, or north to Jacksonville.
Jacksonville to New Orleans is 10 hours.
Tampa and Orlando about the same by car.
South Florida, shite, you might as well fly.
Add to the situation was that it was a midweek game, and IDK about everyone else but I had to work the next day.
Florida fans are notoriously fair weather, there's no arguing that, but there were a lot of factors that have played in to low attendance in the sugar bowl recently. 2009 was just fricking disappointing as hell and I know I wasn't going to pay out the arse to go watch Florida play Louisville when I can watch it for free on a big arse HD tv here at home with some friends and BBQ.
Maybe that's why UF fans don't travel well. We like to stay at our houses and have BBQ's and watch the away games on TV. Ha.

I understand the distance and mid-week being a factor.
The problem is that there aren't many games bigger than a Sugar Bowl.
Shame on your fanbase for not understanding that.

I was at the Arky-Ohio State Sugar Bowl. The Hog fans were over the moon excited just to be there.

South Florida (12 hours by car), Tampa (9-10) & Orlando (9-10) are the most popular.
Midweek game vs Louisville just isn't an exciting match up, especially considering we were a Notre Dame loss v USCw from playing Alabama in Miami.

Then why do we sell out more games than y'all? Doesn't BR have 150,000+ more residents than gainesville? And tiny little gainesville fills the swamp every single week. TS is empty by the 3rd quarter.....great fans
I live among the Gator fans and yall are bandwagon as hell. BR has more residents than Gainseville, but if you combine the population within 2 hours of gainesville, its twice as much as the whole state of Louisiana. That's a horrible excuse. Also, our fans may leave early in blowouts, but they still show up and pack the house. Your game against ULL last year wasnt even close to being full. We also travel to away games and bowl games very well.
Yall are horrible in that regard.

Bowl game scheduling has gotten really crappy. A premier bowl such as Sugar Bowl should never be on a Wednesday night.
People have to work. They can't travel in the middle of the week and they need to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Please. The UF attendance at the sugar bowl is proof positive that you may be with us (SEC) on paper, but not in spirit.
I think every other SEC team would have traveled better than Florida in that case.
