NC State won 9 last year I believe. I wouldn't call them a rent-a-win.

And they are projected top 20 in most polls I’ve seen… Neutral site, and Nico’s first real “big game,”…

Yeah NC State being included with the rest of these makes it look like an NC State troll

Na it’s smart if you are umass(be real they aren’t competing against the sec) they are competing against other small programs for 2 star to no star recruits. A lot of those guys are playing for the real reasons education and love of the game. 99.9 percent aren’t going pro. Telling those players they’ll get a chance to play 3 sec stadiums is probably great for thier recruiting.

They are funding the entire athletic department with that schedule.
I've said for years that these schools send their football teams out there to take a beating just so they can pay the salaries of the women's coaches to beech about equity.

If you're going to this much trouble to make a point you should really stick with the premise all the way through. Putting Power 4 Wake Forrest and North Carolina State in among the Appy State masses is stupid. Leaving Georgia Southern off the Ole Miss schedule is another no-no.

I agree with nc st they are physical, remind me a lot of miss st(not always good but always has a dline that wants to make you suffer). And while nobody probably does more with less better than wake, that’s a g5 roster no way around it.

Think about the experience too. Playing at miss st(60k) mizzou(70k) uga(90k) is huge for a player of that caliber. They will be playing in front of crowds bigger than the entire big 12, and anyone in the acc who avoided Clem/fsu in the same year. It’ll be a cool story for a lot of those guys later in life

The OP made this about Appy State and I assume that means we should all once again reflect on their big house win vs Michigan. If Wake Forrest beat Ole Miss that's not what comes to mind.

UCF vs Florida might be a toss up come game day. NC State looks to be pretty good this year.
I think they will be overwhelmed by sheer talent but UTSA and South Alabama have fielded some decent teams in recent years.
As for poor UMass... the grass ain't always greener on the other side of the fence folks. They were a very solid FCS program and had a good amount of FCS programs around them to play. Sure, a Saturday afternoon game against Lehigh or Rhode Island isn't going to put up Iron Bowl numbers but you will have that.
Moving up to FBS has been a complete disaster. They have to go on the road because you can only play Boston College, Army, and Syracuse so many times. They don't have a conference to join up there unlike Southern FCS teams making the move up who always know that the Sun Belt will be happy to take them.
They really need to start the process of going back to the FCS and finishing up their remaining contracts.

If we are going to be cynical about it, they aren't going back to FCS for the money alone. As an FCS school, they have a hard time scheduling 3 SEC games. They got paid just under 2 mil to play Auburn in 2023. So they are probably looking at 6-8 mil for 3 SEC games in 2024.
Their total Athletic Department budget is 51 mil LINK. Those three games are somewhere between 13-15% of their revenue.

In all seriousness,
WTF are multiple SEC teams doing with 4 crap festivals on their respective schedules. Congrats to UGA, FLA, and LSU for at least trying to entertain the paying customers...
FLA sorry but your fans will not appreciate this year's effort...
