I love making fun of bama as much as the next guy but MSU is by far the most logical and rational choice for htem as far as a 3rd conference opponent goes. They are bama's most played opponent of all time and the campuses are less than an hour apart.
Would we be as irked by it if MSU was historically eliete and all other factors the same? Of course not...people are only annoyed because MSU sucks. But it's no different than SC being by far the most logical 3rd choice for UGA behind UF/AU. History and proximity should be important; not just "who are the 3 hardest opponents we can play"

Fact remains for years and years Auburn played Bama, Georgia, Florida, and LSU every year

I'm talking about why MSU is the logical choice to be bama's 3rd permanent oponent.
That has nothing to do with AU's utterly embarrassing lack of stringing together two 10-win seasons.
UGA was largely mediocre thorughotu the 30s, 60s, and 90s. We were garbage in the 50s. Florida wasn't a blip in the public consciousness until the mid-80s and didn't win anythign of substance until the 90s. Withotu looking it up I imagine LSU had many decades that ebbed and flowed as well.
Bama is the only team that has been consistently and routinely really really good every single decade.

.....ok? And? What does the fact that MSU has historically been really bad have to do with AU's inabiltiy to put -two- seasons together of 10 wins? You somehow conveniently ignore that MSU is Auburn's second most played SEC opponent of all time
