frick "conference strength" it doesn't matter as long as UGA takes care of business.

Can’t root for AU, LSU basketball (still in the penalty box), or Tenn Baseball.
A lot of it is the coach for me. I rooted for coach O but hard to get behind BK. It’s hard for me to pull against Kirby or even Sark at Texas given how much they helped us win championships.
That said, sometimes it comes down to what’s best for recruiting. Would be tough to recruit against UGA if they win this next one (more so than it already is, obviously).
A lot of it is the coach for me. I rooted for coach O but hard to get behind BK. It’s hard for me to pull against Kirby or even Sark at Texas given how much they helped us win championships.

I'll tell a lot of my friends I'm pulling for the SEC instead of Bama, UGA. But when the B1G posters start bragging about their conference and how they're gonna win it all I always pull for the locals. Can't force myself to pull for anyone outside the south. Usually live to regret it after the bowls tho

There was an era when we all knew the SEC was the best, but the rest of the country was still obsessed with the Big Ten, Texas, USC and Miami, so when the conference started winning all the natties in the late 2000’s, there was a validation that was super satisfying.
Now we know we’re the best and everybody else does too. What’s the point?

I'm not proud to admit it and it's definitely not a good thing, but message boards have caused the change in my behavior.
It used to be I only rooted against Florida and Tennessee with no exceptions, but now frick Auburn and frick LSU too.

From a practical standpoint, it makes sense to root against any team that steals any of your team's recruits. Florida getting mocked and embarrassed definitely didn't help them with any last minute recruiting battles against Georgia.
In a perfect world, Clemson and Florida would be 0-12 every season and Tennessee and Alabama would be 1-11.
