Most schools don’t rush hires to hire just anyone . If Bama really didn’t know about this until Saban told them late last week, then I doubt they have even reached out to many coaches at this point . It takes time to form a search group and get the boards to approve contracts . Sure you can go ape shite and hire a Jimbo and regret every cent you spent or take your time and get the right guy . Which is what I think Bama will do . I don’t believe anyone turned anything down , all these coaches saying they are staying probably haven’t even been called .

It's a little different in the days of the portal. They need to fill it quickly with a good hire or you could have some players jumping ship. Plus, Spring Ball starts in a few months, so staffs and schemes will need to be in place prior.

Byrne has a pretty good track record. His only bad hire is Brad Bohanon, and that had nothing to do with his coaching ability. Managed to bring in Dan Mullen to MSU and Rich Rod to Arizona as well- both of which had never-before-seen success at their schools

I think it is more likely Auburn fans, I don't know what it is but Auburn posters due perhaps to their recruiting site insiders/Media guys/youtube content creators have more legitimate information about Bama's program than it seems some of these Bama media guys/Youtube content creators.

So while some of it is trolling, Auburn message boards do seem to get more scoop on Bama than other fan bases. Of course they are in the same state, duh, but I often wonder if Auburn as some spies hanging around Tuscaloosa getting scoop.

OP is correct but his analysis flies contrary to the narrative this board likes to promote of Alabama as a backwards state and university that no one in their right mind would want to coach at.

It’s a bit different in the transfer portal.

A major delay will come off like Bama didn’t have a plan, coaches will smell blood in the water and start picking off recruits and players. The ultimate alpha move would have been if on the same day Saban retired they had a guy lined up. That didn’t happen and now the clock is ticking.

I don't think anyone is judging y'all by your state, but instead of who your next coach is gonna have to follow.

Byrne has hired multiple coaches since Saban came 17 years ago , or at least since Byrne has been there,, including basketball, gymnastics and baseball (misfired on Bohannon, obviously, but Vaughn is good, I think). I know the football HC at Bama is a different animal, but I think Byrne knows what he’s doing.

Byrne also said “Don’t believe anything unless you hear it from me.”

Until I see a quote from him, the rest is just LSU ejaculation.

What do you mean? I was told Saban/REC had everything arranged.. that this would be a seemless transition and an announcement was imminent. What happen??!

They didn’t know definitely, but they knew it was a possibility. They were lining up their ducks in case. Guaranteed.
