Having the tournament at a downtown ballpark with hotels in walking distance simply can't be beat.
I stay 8 days. How much does that cost in one of those downtown hotels?

The rates increase for events... So I would say over 150 a night and up.. Possibly more

Not really, I'm an upbeat kind of guy until tools get under my skin by yapping about things they don't have a clue about.

Bham city schools suck yet the city builds a baseball park so about 100 people can show up and watch minor league baseball.

RV for the week at Hoover is 250. 150 for 8 days is 1,200. We shop in Hoover - adding to the economy but we cook at the RV. Anytime MSU is there we have 5 to 15 people at the RV, cook, drink, play and walk down to the ballgame.
Are there any walking distance hotels with this new stadium?

English must be your second language, are you mad about Hoover tearing down those old apartments and you and your amigos had to move?

Don't live in Bham and never have and moved out of Jefferson county 21 years ago and will NEVER move back.

BTW: what auburn stuff are you referring to?

And....Lot nicer and newer hotels on HWY 150 in Hoover than downtown bham.

I'll probably go to the opener, and a few games during the season. I was and continue to be disappointed in the design. I was hoping for a very retro-mod take on a classic brick stadium...not another Met "stadium in a box".

No. I have to say that I wouldn't suggest walking anywhere around this stadium at night. I've been there several times for the Railroad Park and events at B&A Warehouse next door, and unless the police are really, REALLY, on point, somebody is gonna get jacked/killed pretty quickly once the season starts.
Also, one of the big question marks is how they are going to manage parking for games, as there is very little in the way of parking lots right around the stadium. RV parking in any sort of quantity will be highly unlikely, IMHO.

There's a good number of lots within 2 blocks, I know childrens hospital is letting people park there. They also have shuttles every game.

I'm not, never have been and detest racist but looks like prissy wanst to play the race card which is very typical of bham supporters because bham is a shithole full of crooks and some have even gone to prison like the former mayor "lyin larry" and Jefferson County is in hock to the tune of billions because they were lining their pockets with public money over the sewer construction. Also Bham saw fit to spend millions on this ballpark and their own school system sucks major rocks and BTW let prissy list the hotels that are within walking distance and go out on the net and look at their reviews, I wouldnt stay in some of them if they were free.

All right prissy give us the list of these fabulous hotels within walking distance.

What hotels are within 3 blocks? The nearest I can think of are on 20th Street around UAB. Besides, my main point wasn't the relative dearth of hotel space, its that its not gonna be the best place in the world to walk at night. I certainly wouldn't relish the idea of walking to 20th Street from the stadium.
I read that they are working on a plan to address parking, and trying to get Children's Hospital to sign off on a deal for game parking, but they haven't released any details to my knowledge.
I'm not shitting on the stadium, or the idea to bring the Barons back to B'ham...hell, I love the idea, and will start going to games again. I used to go to Rickwood with my Dad when I was a kid...but I'm also a realist, and can see that its gonna take a concerted effort by the BPD to keep the area safe on game day.
