Birmingham already has a 1% income tax that's total bullsh*t...
I worked downtown at UAB a few years ago... i never had any trouble... we'd go to five points at night with no issues. I understand there are certain parts of town no one would want to go, but that's with every town in america (for the most part).

then read up on a few more of Bham's school projects
Woodlawn High School is currently under a 40 million dollar expansion. The school is slated to be closed in about 2 years.
Though building schools in Jefferson County is about the only thing that has kept many businesses open. Ours included, so I hope they keep building.

Exactly but the crime rate isnt high in the downtown area. Its more concentrated in N. Bham, Ensley, Westend, etc..

For someone who hasnt lived in Jeff Co for over 21 years you seem so pissed.. You gotta live in Cullman County, lol..

Should be at Autozone park here in Memphis. It's the nicest minor league field and stadium in the country and Memphis is about 10,000x more fun than bham

Just to let you know I live in North Shelby County in a very diverse neighborhood and love it, where do you stay skooter?
So you have no problem with city leaders that would spend a couple million to steal the Barons baseball team from Hoover that may draw on a good night 200 people while their schools systems is headed down the toilet? But I guess taking something away from that evil city of Hoover is more important to you than educating our youth, sounds like you went through the Birmingham Schools system for your education.
BTW: Take a ride down HWY 150 if you want to see what growth looks like.

Memphis has no SEC ties.. Very doubtful it goes there.. Plus, crime is 10,000x worst there

Im well aware of Hwy 150.. The Riverchase Galleria is the reason for the growth of that area.. I have no problems with Hoover. Bham didnt steal the Barons from Hoover, if they did they wouldve been named the HOOVER BARONS.. The Barons have been around longer than Hoover has been known.. But you should have known that. The Barons are back where they belong, Birmingham.

BTW: Still waiting on that list of 5 star hotels you can stay at and walk to the new "Regions Park"

Your argument is invalid. The things that are wrong with the Birmingham school system can't be fixed by money. Thats a fact.

You def cant walk to one from the Hoover Met..
Just quit sir! The Barons are gone.. Regions has pulled it's name off of the Met.. Soon the SEC Tourney will follow.. Get over it!

Agree 100% but my point is Bham city leaders are more worried about building a facility that will lose money year in and year out while their school system is horrible and yet they do not want to address that issue.

Again, english must be your second language because I never said you could, you were the one talking up the walk from hotels to the park so name them and I could care less where the barons play but you on the other hand think its the greatest idea and a coup for the city of Bham and its the Barons moving back, not the New York Mets.

This whole thread is a perfect example of why Bham will never get its shite together.

Nope the ENTIRE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM is crime infested and there is absolutely nothing good about it at all. To say otherwise makes you dumb [readinsarcasmfont]

A couple of hotels, a Wal-Mart, and a Salvation Army Thrift Store . . . Watch out ATL, Memphis, and NOLA - Hoover is comin for you

My post was more about the perception that simply being within the Birmingham city limits will lead to you being shoot, robbed, and/or killed when that is simply not the case. Crime in Birmingham is more concentrated to certain areas than it is a widespread epidemic as many would like you to believe.
Most cities take special care to police their tourist attractions and special events and this is the expectation that I have for the downtown area. The city desperately wants this area to suceed and I am expecting a zero tolerance policy for crime

Ingorance must be bliss with you barners, I must say you stick together and I can remember when Bham was an evil city or your so called coach patrick fain dye thought so but he lost his pants and doesnt remember it.
BTW: That is a new Embassy Suites just completed and that Salvation Army Thrift Store was built on property that was donated to the Salvation Army by the owner with a value of over 1 million dollars. The Salvation Army does a lot of good things and as a matter of fact I volunteer my time for them. Do you do anything to help others?
Tired of dealing with idiots, out...
