I will never understand the Egg Bowl hype. It doesn’t draw national attention at all, so why is it consistently ranked high in these rankings?
Because it is not an event like the others. People prone to conversing about such things are true fans of CFB, outside of the event that the other games represent. It being played on Thanksgiving also makes it special. Its also almost always a good game and something happens that makes you scratch your head. Its pure fun which makes it special for those completely consumed by College football.
There is also the fact that football may be more important in general in Mississippi than anywhere else in the US. Per capita more kids play football at some level in Mississippi than anywhere and it ain't close. Football at any level is a big damn deal in Mississippi. Not everyone is aware of that....its a pretty small, rural state that usually only makes headlines for ugly shite....but it takes a back seat to no one when it comes to football.

Ask the Dallas PD how friendly it is. Granted the latest generation of students have become soft, but in past decades over 100 (sometimes many more) ending up in the city free hotel was usual.
100? Hell more than that wind up in ACC Jail when UGA is playing New Mexico State.....
UGAs scoreboard USED to have a Dawg holding a 2X4 with nails protruding from it. It was a reference to a LSU / UGA game from 1935 that resulted in UGA losing to LSU, LSU fans storming the field and UGA fans chasing them through town with boards ripped off a nearby building under construction. The UGA fans chased them all the way to the train station. That ain't even a rivalry as LSU and UGA have played relatively few times over the years....but it resulted in what would be called a riot normally. In 1935 chasing visitors to the train station wieldiing a lethal weapon was seen as clean old fashioned fun...eerybody would be in jail today....

Thank you for using real name.
RRS is the only name that should be used, hope it is restored in SEC.
I actually respect the hate and rivalry in that game, it is no diss to equate it to WLOCP. But it feels like a singular event to me, just like WLOCP or DSOR. Does it really carry over like A&M into all facets of life?
Iron Bowl does. Egg Bowl Does. It gets played on rivalry week for crying out loud.

Number 1 game each season bar none is the RRR…….
The provincial nature of the SEC has prevented them from actually experiencing the RRR, you all should go to the game, ……just know you will either be on the RED half of the Stadium or the Orange half with the losers…

Have gone through most of the posts in this thread. A lot of rivalry games have been thrown out there as the most whatever among them.
My question is what are the criteria?
Attendance? The vitriol? Number of casualties? Just saying the emotions run high in a game between a couple of schools is not enough. We need a way to put a value to, not something completely subjective.

You got that right. But call us when one of your fans shoots another of your fans because they weren't upset enough about a loss.
Shootings? Bama fans are willing to commit domestic terrorism vs us.

What's unique about the egg bowl or iron bowl vs any other annual in state game?
Absolutely nothing.
Absolutely nothing.

We don’t consider Bedlam anywhere near RRR
Bedlam is like egg or iron

SC Clemson leads them all when it comes to pure hate.

Don’t give to shits about any of those other rivalries. The only one that matters to me is The Red River Shootout. Never watched the others and don’t care to. Anyway, the rivalries don’t really matter much except to the teams and fanbases involved…as it should be. So trying to rank them is pointless.

I'll be happy to see the day Bama isn't forced to play auburn, the game the toilet-paper cult hang their existence on.

OU/TX is superior to any in-state pissing contest bowl. Period.

The battle for the boot is more entertaining than the Egg Bowl

Bedlam, which I am sorry to see it end, was only the top rivalry game for the fans of one of the teams and it wasn't OUrs.
