Ears Whitworth's teams say "hi"

That was literally the mid-50s. Before Bryant, which is outside of the scope asked in the OP. But yes, Alabama was really bad for that 3-year stretch 60 years ago. Then they were bad again for roughly a 10-year stretch between '97 and '07 (though that included an SEC title and three 10-win seasons).

But Ole Miss has never been a very good program on any consistent basis

Again, 40+ years ago, Ole Miss was a consistently good program. They have not been ranked at the end of the season 3 times during any 5-year span since then.

So the fact that Alabama's worst stretch in 60 years is as good as Ole Miss's best stretch during that time frame further illustrates the point he was trying to make; Ole Miss and Alabama really aren't comparable in terms of bouncing back to relevance.

This ain't even close to being over. If the whispers I'm hearing are true, Freeze is done in every way. It's bad. Like real bad.

Why the hell would you go to Ole Miss? Was it your only option?

My thoughts exactly. Did you major in cotton and they were the only doctorate program?

I heard that there are bars which sell alcoholic beverages in your college town, some of which cater to college-aged people. Is this true?

Nah, I was low key poking fun at the fact that it takes a home football game or other "special weekend" for the entertainment district to stay open past midnight on a Saturday. Weird blue laws
