Respectfully, to be a tech fan, you are stupid if you can’t see how this situation is different from other players entering the portal.

Everyone can cheer UTK for not paying Nico what he isn't worth, but that is just a business decision. I have even more respect for Dan Lanning if he did call Knoxville and tell them what their QB was doing.

I’m pretty sure he did tell us. And while I’m not surprised that there’s some backlash for everything, it is surprising for schools to make sure the press knows they aren’t interested. That’s something that typically stays behind the scenes.

It’s one thing for us fans to say shite out loud but a whole other thing for schools to do what we’re seeing. My news feed is filled with reports of schools not interested when it would normally be full of “possible landing spots.”

I just think the kid is being made an example of. It’s way past being about him. He’s just the stand in for everyone’s frustration.

The best part is he thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

These schools need to be more frugal with the money. Not very many programs have Ohio State money.

Only a really desperate team is going to give millions of dollars to an average quarterback who is a national joke, it almost makes your program look even worse.

So we should expect him at Florida State soon?

Ok guys. We’ll see. Nico will get paid. So if he would have waited until Monday then he wouldn’t be a pariah? You guys are just emotional fans. Poor Tennessee for losing their QB on Thursday instead of Monday.

What difference does it make. By him leaving on Thursday it actually gave playing time to the other QB’s in the spring game.

I’ve never so many college fans with the emotions of teenage girls. There are going to be a lot of players entering the portal this week so I expect many of you to lose your minds about all these evil players. None of them care about the jersey they wear. It’s all about the Benjamin’s and/or playing time.

You can call me names all you want but you know I’m right. And after reading this board Nico should be given a parade in Knoxville since he just saved the Vols 2.4 million for a crappy player (of course until the next starter demands the same).

It's baffling to me that you're this confused about what people are agitated about.

You're either trolling or just willfully ignorant at this point.

Man, you’re missing the mark by a mile. Tennessee held up their end… didn’t think he was worth $4 million…let him go due to him not living up to the money he’s already been paid…..UT said no. As I left it, if a school pays him more, that’s on them. UT drew the line. Simple as that.

I agree. Just hoping this whole fiasco will make players check themselves. Wishful thinking but hoping. As much as everyone on this board are rivals, we all hope for this dumb shite not to happen to any team. It’s literally ruining college football.

And to be fair, Heupel addressed his team stating no one is above the team. If you’re complaining about people saying he’s a hero, you’re dumber than I thought. Forget the fans, Heupel literally set an example to HIS team that no one is above everyone in that locker room. You’re clueless, time to stfu and get off the forum.

But no one believes Huepel. He’s a total hypocrite. If Arch Manning called him today and asked for 12 million and the best apartment in Knoxville Huepel would absolutely put Manning above the team.

You guys are so easily manipulated by words. Huepel can say “no one is above the team” but look at his collective actions. All these coaches always put their best players above the team. And they definitely put themselves above the team. I’ll remember all these threads when you same guys are blasting Huepel for losing games and when gives a transfer millions more than a guy on his “team”.

You seem to be confused between the differences of paying a player fair market value and allowing a single player to hold the program hostage.
