Basically look at the size of the football stadiums and it'll tell you how big the fanbase is.

I said most of the state except the northern corner which are mostly Clemson fans.

Sorry but the 'data' also doesn't support a lifetimes worth of living in the state you're talking about.

And you're basing it off of thousands of thousands of ticket sales? Well duh. I didn't say they were a small school. Yes there are in fact thousands of Clemson fans in SC, but not nearly as much as there are Gamecock fans.

As for apparel sells? What does that tell you? We're ahead of A&M who has a much larger school and is in a much larger state. So the SC fan base is larger than A&Ms?

Well at least those who are actually worth counting (can afford tickets).

I think currently MSU has a larger alumni base...neither of us can really claim much of a sidewalk fan following

So a team which has the same amount of football ticket revenue and roughly similar sales of licensed merchandise has way fewer fans. Ok.

Also, I lived in the Charlotte area for a few years. There were plenty of Clemson fans in Rock Hill and Spartanburg.

If you mean dominate like 55% to 45%, sure. It's that kind of domination.

So you know thats in the upper part of the state like I mentioned?

And again if you go by "thousands of ticket sales" and merchandise sales that means A&M has fewer fans than us correct?

A&M has the second largest number of living alumni among current SEC schools, so in terms of non t-shirt fans we should be higher.

Good effort but here's what you actually said.

But SC dominates the entire state outside of the little corner in the NE.

Rock Hill and Spartanburg are in NE South Carolina? Again, if you mean dominate like 55% to 45%, sure. But Clemson has one of the strongest fan bases in the nation. Easily top 25. Arguing that's not the case is just homerish.

Battle of top 15 teams last season SC @ Clemson and they couldn't even sell it out. Yes I was there, freezing my arse off in the away upper deck and straight across from was a half empty Clemson upper deck.

So you've seen two towns in the Upstate that have a decent Clemson following and are assuming the rest of the state is like that? Have you ever been to Columbia or Charleston? The 2 largest cities in the state? Trust me, they're Gamecock dominated as is 2/3 of the state.

But hey, what do I know? You have a little experience in Spartanburg and Rock Hill. I've only lived here my whole life and have been in every corner of the state.

Good thing you ignored my question about the ticket and merchandise sales.

I was in the lower deck Gamecock section and was astonished at how many empty seats AND Gamecock fans that were there.

And Clemson has York County and Pickens County. The rest of the state is Gamecock country.

I agree completely, and I do think that you have a huge fan base. UT's fan base outside of the state is also vastly under appreciated.

At the same time, UT has lost a lot of ground in Middle and West Tennessee over the last decade and a half. As much as I would like to attribute this to the rise of Vandy, the fact is that the Titans and Preds have really cut into your fans in Middle Tennessee. In addition, Nashville's rise has brought in a huge influx of fans of other SEC and B1G schools.

Over the same time, West Tennessee has moved further from UT. No longer playing games in Memphis hasn't helped. In fact some parts of W. Tennessee feel real animosity towards East Tennessee in general. I'm afraid these trends simply aren't working in your favor.

Yep. Been to the last 2 SC games @ Clemson and it was the case both times. In 2010 I could expect it as SC was favored and Clemson was having a down year? But last year boy I was surprised. They were favorites going in were they not?

Quite frankly I think they over-expanded with their last expansion in the lower bowl.

I ignored it because you're a bit slow in this argument. Merchandise sales obviously doesn't define a fan base's size completely. It is certainly instructive.

Y'all have teenagers buying USCe gear nationwide as a joke which helps your numbers, I'm sure. So that should be taken into account. But obviously, a team with the 16th most merchandise sold has a solid fan base. So does the 24th. I'm not sure how this is rocket science but you keep trying to make it so.

Why don't you post Clemson's football ticket sales revenue versus South Carolina and show us that complete dominance.

I hope your compass gets fixed, too.

How'd you like their busch-league move of strobing the ribbon boards and scoreboard while we were on third down? Think they played Hell's Bells and Iron Man each time with a pair of tiger eyes.

And the FG kicker pump up video was golden

No it's not. There's teenagers walking around Missouri tonight with "Cocks" hats on that couldn't find South Carolina on a map.

Not at all. There are shite tons of little punks who think its funny to walk around wearing a hat that says "Cocks". It's the same crowd that goes around wearing the Miami hats that say "Swag"

You ignored it because you were trying to use it as data that proved that the SC fan base wasn't much larger than Clemson's but when I pointed out to you that SC has more merchandise sales than A&M's suddenly you didn't want to talk about it anymore.

Or I could use a vague measurement to make my argument sound nice? SC sells thousands of thousands of tickets!!

You think ticket sales is a good measurement? That doesn't take into account how much tickets are and I doubt anybody really wants to research and compare the ticket prices of SC and Clemson games over the last few years.

I know ours had gone down for a while because of the YES plan our former AD had implemented. Does that mean our fan base shrunk because we sold less season tickets? No it just means fewer were able to afford them.

BTW: You'd be hard pressed to find any Gamecock merchandise that just says 'Cocks' on it. Almost all of them have a Gamecock logo or the "University of South Carolina" accompanying it.
