Wrong. As proud as I am of our baseball history, LSU is the goat. We are #2. They are as blue as a blueblood can get. We need to win another title before them to even be considered their equal. You realize we are 36 years from 1990. That's plenty of domination to be considered the goat of the blue bloods.
We have work to do. I think we have the right coach to do it. Time will tell.
fyi ChatGPT agrees with you..but I think they are wrong. LSU took control of the #1 spot last season imo.
ChatGPT ranking of the true college baseball bluebloods — weighting titles, Omaha history, NCAA tournament volume, and long-term staying power, not just who’s hottest lately:
Texas — 6 national titles, a record 38 Men’s College World Series appearances, 63 NCAA tournament appearances, and the most NCAA tournament wins. That résumé is just stupidly deep.
LSU — now up to 8 national titles after winning it again in 2025, with 20 CWS appearances. If you weight championships most heavily, you could absolutely put LSU at No. 1.
USC — still the title king with 12 championships and 21 CWS appearances. The only reason I don’t put USC higher is that a lot of that dominance lives in older eras.
Miami — 4 national titles, 25 CWS appearances, and that absurd 44-year regional streak from 1973–2016. That is blueblood behavior.
Florida State — the ultimate no-title giant: 24 CWS appearances, 61 NCAA tournament appearances, second-most postseason wins, and one of the winningest programs ever.
Arizona State — 5 national titles and 22 CWS appearances. Easy blueblood.
Cal State Fullerton — 4 titles and 18 CWS appearances. Smaller brand nationally than some others, but the baseball résumé is absolutely there.
Arizona — 4 titles, 19 CWS appearances, 42 NCAA tournament appearances. Very real claim.
Stanford — 2 titles, 19 CWS appearances, 35 NCAA tournament appearances. Maybe the quietest blueblood, but still one.

Both LSU and Texas baseball deserves a mention. LSU and Texas are the two greatest programs in CBB history. In that order.
USCw has done nothing for so long they are no longer in the discussion...but boy did they have a string of dominance.

I agree LSU is the best program in baseball now given their latest natty. That was not the argument. If the definition of blue blood are the teams that grew the sport then LSU wasn't relevant until mid to late 80s and the CWS started in 1947. In fact LSU was ranked twice in that timeframe in a 40 year span.
LSU was a nothing program for 40 years of the CWS era (even though I am well aware the CWS has changed over the years).
LSU is the modern Blue Blood (and all time best program) of college baseball no one is denying that. All I was saying is the typical definition is the programs that built the sport, if you think the 90s built the sport take it, I think the sport grew in popularity earlie rthan LSU came around.

Fair enough. We just have different criteria for blue blood status. I see your point.

Approved.
And that is not a slight to LSU Baseball. But the term "blue blood" implies history that goes way back. Its dumb, but it is what it is. I have no issue labeling the greatest in my life.
Probably Lady Vol basketball too...women's sports are a little different.
Blue blood is a loaded term. It is like old money. You can't buy your way in. You are a blue blood or you aren't.

Florida is more a blue blood in basketball this century than Kentucky.

No, they aren’t, not even close. You would be absolutely laughed out of any discussion if you called a basketball or football program a blueblood that had a losing record to multiple teams in their conference that have zero natties (or near zero). Feel free to call them a new blood if you want, argue there are no blue bloods in baseball, or make up some other weird argument, but blueblood programs don’t have losing records to 2nd rate conference foes…by definition of what a blueblood is.

There are plenty of sports writers who agree with me. Don't believe me? Search.
I understand your point. I just think the amount of sustained success they've had since the 90s puts them firmly in blue blood territory. It's just an opinion. A lot of people seem to agree with you.

Correct. If you asked anyone who the top five programs are in college baseball, everyone is going to include LSU in their top 3. They would place LSU #1 in the most recent era, despite Texas having won titles in five different decades. There's no way a program with that many titles is not a blue blood.

Not how it works. To be a blue blood there have to be movies about your program...in black and white. And for football there had better be some leather helmet hi-lights. It is a stupid term IMHO that doesn't mean much outside of the sportswriter crowd, but it is what it is.

Everyone knows the University of Alabama is the cornerstone of SEC.

Now let’s compare total number of national championships.
Georgia almost always loses to Alabama. Provide the record of Bama vs Georgia all time and also over the last 15 games. I’ll hang up and listen.

Saban won more championships at Bama than Georgia has won in over 125 years of playing football lol
