It's all subjective but EVERY one of these lists is the same at the top.

In no particular order:

USC
OU
Alabama
ND
tOSU

Nobody else is even close...

All of them from different parts of the country except for OSU and ND.

quote:

USC (PAC 12) West coast
OU (Big 12) Southwest
Alabama (SEC) Southeast
ND (Independent) Midwest
tOSU (Big 10) Northern midwest

Yep, it's likely there's ONLY 5 truly elite teams in CFB throughout history that have dominated their regions.

Note to self: don't spend time coming up with a new way to look at data. The people who can appreciate it didn't need convincing in the first place, and the rest will do nothing but try to poke holes in it and bitch about the output.

What do you want, a circle jerk?

The problem is, conference titles are not equal. Oklahoma had an absurd number of con titles. Put them in the sec or big ten, and that number drops by 50-75%.

What an ignorant buffoon.

People always get pissy about the metrics used to calculate such ratings, and yes there is a lot of subjectivity there,

but pretty no matter what reasonable criteria anybody comes up with produces approximately the same results.

That should tell you something.

Ohio state did so much shady shite to be there, the others too, but not on the level of tosu.

No one questioned them as a program. But there is a question to the legitimacy of weighing conference titles equally, when that's clearly not justifiable.

Just be quiet. You act like the SEC and the BIG 10 have been juggernauts for the last 60 years. They haven't. When tOSU won the NT by breaking it off in your asses, people were talking about the B1G in the past tense. A dying conference. Rust belt exodus. Worst conference. How will they recruit going forward? Blah-blah-blah....

Dude. In the other thread you guys were considered Top 15 and y'all had a major meltdown. In this one you are #16 and you are ok with it, because he put you under the title of Elite?

I think most AU people would tell you that as long as we're around top 15 and bunched with LSU/UGA, it's fine

Can't stand tOSU, but they'd be a distant third on the shady list in that group

Good work here. Any list would have these as your top 5 (elite) programs of all time
Bama
Notre dame
USC
Ohio state
Oklahoma

You also have a strong group but not all time elite in:
Nebraska
Michigan
Texas
Penn state

This is very interesting and aligns with another solid metric which is the 800 win at a 70% clip club.

Also named blue bloods, programs that have won most of their games over a century of play.

Out of the 7 or 8 blue bloods anyone in the top 5 had a chance to take over the top spot with a 5 year run.

Alabama has, unfortunately, separated themselves with 4 out of 7 and has built a lead that will last for a long time.

The race for now is for second. In my opinion that is only an option for 2 teams. OSU has the inside track with CUM and USC can explode at anytime with the right coach and all the Cali talent.

Most reasonable ones....yes. There were several unreasonable ones in the other thread. It just struck me funny that all heck broke loose because y'all were not included in the Top 15 in the other thread, and when you are ranked out of the Top 15, but called elite in this one it's ok.

I would say the vast majority of fans would agree that putting more weight on recent success than say success in the 1800s makes sense.

We will have to agree to disagree. It's your formula and thread, and I respect and appreciate all the time and trouble you put into this. I'm WAY too lazy to do this and you made a good contribution to this place.

It's been more than just "the last 20 years or so". We're getting close to Year 30 without a National Title for the Irish. And if they fail to win one in the next two seasons, Notre Dame will only lay claim to one single National Title in a generation.

I knew it had been awhile. I really don't care for Notre dame at all. For WAY too long they have been given preferential treatment by the media and pollsters.

All of those things are true. They just don't apply to the 2 blue bloods, Michigan and Ohio State.

Everyone else in that league is trash. See Bowl, Cotton.
