Look at the commitment to baseball and I'll be damned if that stadium wasn't insane 2 weeks ago and last week for Auburn after 2 straight losses. Florida wouldn't have shown up like that.

So we were all better fans when Alabama was 6-6 and Mike Shula was coach and we expected to win National Titles with 3-stars I guess?
Yea that's probably true.

Correct. I hope you aren't trying to claim vol fans are realistic?

Ah, I see not. Carry on.

We have just never embraced the commitment that SEC football demands

I don't think zealots make good fans. A good fan can talk about the sport and their team as well as rivals and is typically fun to engage in a debate with. A zealot can't do these things and just shits all over the place.

It's just for fun Torch. I give the Vols more shite than anyone, but I think 99% of you guys are good by me.

Zealotry is the best and worst quality of fanbases IMO.
A&M has an incredible network and it lasts far beyond college in a way you're not going to see from other huge schools like UF or UGA. Of course, for similar reasons, they're pretty creepy frickers as well.
Top of the list for me would be something like:
TIE - A&M and 33% of Alabama's fan base
LSU and Auburn and the rest of Alabama
SCAR and Tennessee
UGA

The only big team in Arkansas is the Razorbacks. I'd put their "zealotry" at the top of any list. This team is all we have.

Tennessee fan talking about how hard it has been being a Tennessee fan with their teams struggling...
Kentucky fans laugh in your face. We have been a dumpster fire for years with our best years bringing us conference mid tier. It gets colder up here before anyone else in the conference, so our teams have sucked for decades and we still show up and watch them while freezing our butts off in misery.
When it comes to the misery index, nobody in the conference can hold Kentucky Fans jocks. Vandy doesn't count because they don't actually have fans. They fill their home games by filling up their stands with the other teams fans.
Even if we only get to a 9-3 season this year, the whole fanbase will be overjoyed. 99% of the fanbase would jump in front of a bullet for Mark Stoops and erect statues all over the commonwealth.
Don't know if we can claim the most zealous (if we are only talking football), but a UT fan trying to say how much they've had to struggle through is the funniest crap i've heard all week. Ride that struggle bus for another 20 years or so then come talk to us.

I think I agree. At least we have the same view of "zealotry"
Arkansas gets my vote

I think we may have to have a vote.
Teams laying claims to the #1 spot.
A&M
Tenn
Arkansas
Kentucky
Bama (I am putting you in even though none of you want to claim it)
Anyone else?

And we can change the title to most loyal fans, to make it sound less nazi.

Didn't realize this was only about football. Y'all got basketball so don't go whining about how hard it is to be a 'Cat.

If I had to choose the best comparison for current VOLS fanbase, I would definitely say pre-Saban Alabama. Both have always been massive, loud as frick, and travel insanely well no matter how good or shitty the product on the field is.
I remember many TSIOs of my youth in the pre-Saban days and Bama fans of that period were eerily similar to the 25 and up crowd of current VOLS fan imo. Yearning for past glory and an end of the incompetence that drove their football programs into the ground.
Only real difference in the two is VOLS fans let off steam by internetting at an elite level while BAMA fans let off steam by murdering each other imo

I can't think of another team besides Texas A&M that would have the level and intensity of South Carolina's fan support with our woeful football history.
Posted on 10/17/18 at 4:06 pm to David Ricky
They didn't have an internet to run whilst their team was in the dumps, so I guess you really can't blame the Bammers for killin' each other in real life...

That is true. Great fan following without much winning tradition.

Historically this isn't true.
Bama fans pre-dark lord were fairly resigned to their place in the SEC.
We had a little downward blip immediately prior to ‘the dark lord.’
You either don’t know what historically means, or you’re 16.
