There is a reason he wanted that second for the long FG attempt in 2013. He was frustrated and wanted no part of OT.

He's been outcoached quite often.

He's never been out-recruited.

I won't say we out coached him but we hung around last year 31-24 and in 2014 lost 25-20 and we did own the second half after a big deficit. I honestly believe time on the clock killed us but hey, we lost and they won. Those were two very good games.

Don’t agree that Freeze outcoached him twice. Kinda hard to give Saban too much shite about losing by only six when the team turned it over 5 times. Usually, a -5 TO margin means you lost by 50.

I thought he got out coached by Kiffin and Chizik in ‘09. He tried to play small ball and it nearly cost him both times.

The Camback in 2010 was crazy. Haven't seen anything quite like it since.

2010 ironbowl. BAMA came in with a great game plan on O and D. Auburn adjusted with a press rush and getting Cam out of the pocket where Alabama had contained him. BAMA didn't go away from the deep ball and nearly got McElroy killed.

This past AU game by not bringing in Tua at halftime. And the AU game where Cam Newton went wild in second half. Our O got too conservative.

I was going to post this exact same thing.

Also in 2013, his worst coaching decision ever, just edging out the silly fake punt in the first quarter against Texas, was to not kick the FG from the 13 yard line up 7 with 5 minutes to go in the game.

Nick Saban is not the best on the field, in game coach around. I think he’s even went so far as to basically say that publicly.

I agree, but he doesn't typically have to do much in game coaching

He's superior because he has the most talent, and most importantly due to how he prepares his teams. I've rarely seen him throw a guy out there that isn't prepared and focused.

I don't know how many times he's completely gotten boatraced with a similar team in talent. His worst loss at Bama is by 14. But Mark Richt destroyed him in 2004.

Maybe not out coached but one of his biggest mistakes was not calling Lane K in before the National championship game and letting him know that he needed to straighten up for a month and help win the game.
And Saban got mad at how he was acting and his pride overrode his common sense.
Lane hurt Bama but he hurt his reputation more.
