Oman, why are you so angry at texag7?

We played base soft zone the entire game to force Ehlinger to beat us with his arm. They wore us down with long drives while we played bend dont break defense. So instead of taking a risk to potentially get off the field quicker, we exhausted our D waiting on them to eventually score.. the first drive after half was 19 plays. He basically sat in the pocket un-pressured the entire night.
Apparently our fanbase has deemed Aranda to be above criticism. This isnt the first time this has happened.

Oof, that's gotta hurt

Stingley Jr didn’t allow a reception and had 2 pass deflections while covering Collin Johnson in man coverage. He also had zero penalties.

Stop being afraid to play Aggie and find out

Most of the passes were in the middle of the field, right in front of Todd Harris and behind our middle linebackers. Our middle linebackers were just too slow at reacting and that's where a good majority of the passing yards went.
Corners gave up 4 catches. That's it. Everything else was thrown towards our LB's . Phillips was being used bad , he can't cover. He can lay the wood on the run game though.

Most plays LSU DBs had decent position, it wasn't busted coverages. Their WRs just made the plays, credit to them.

Rewatching a lot of it, Texas was just THAT good. And a lot of that stat line is YAC, because no one could tackle worth a shite.

And don’t add Stingley to the list. They eventually quit throwing his direction because he swatted it all away or almost got that INT that would have sealed it at the end.

In hindsight it seems like we should have had a plan specifically for #6 Duvernay.
Fulton and Delpit have both shown they can play much better than they did, but we will need another safety to play well.
I am worried by how poor our linebackers seemed to do in coverage.
If we can’t pressure the QB better/more consistently than we did Saturday night, we will need to score 50 to win our biggest games.
Alabama has to be licking their chops based on how our defense performed, but that game is a long time from now.

Again, the gameplan was to keep a Ehlinger contained rather than let him scramble and beat us with his legs. The pass rush will be fine.

WTF?
Texas is allowing teams an average of 29.5 ppg, and only 14 ppg when you take out the LSU game.

So you’re saying the 4 linemen weren’t trying to get to the QB?
It wasn’t like he just had a little time in the pocket. He had forever in the pocket, on most plays.
Our offense had to be just about perfect to win that game. That is not a championship winning plan.

Not sure where you get that idea. Pretty much everything I've seen and read here acknowledges the defense had a bad night and must improve going forward if they expect to win big games

tackling needs some work to say the least

quote:of course they were but we, for the most part, refrained from doing anything other than a straight rush with 4. The mindset was stay in your lane and keep Ehlinger contained in the pocket. When we did bring an extra rusher or do a stunt on the DL, we got home.
So you’re saying the 4 linemen weren’t trying to get to the QB?
We had 5 sacks on the night.
