I was talking about the way he played. Their elusiveness is very similar
And it was a good comparison. Especially in the SEC, considering Archie's record hadn't been beat until Manziel arrived. Their allusiveness was very comparable for their eras, and they were both phenoms for their respective fanbases.
It's a shame that aggy posters feel the need to immediately go into defense mode any time their quarterback is mentioned. Look, it's unfortunate that Johnny has chose to align himself with a lifestyle that is not looked upon favorably among the American populace, but that in no way means you should look for ways to degrade the career of Archie Manning. He was as close as it gets to a pure college football role model. I'm sorry that your own version has his flaws.

Archie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JFF

There's a reason he's heralded among our fanbase the way he is, with retired jerseys and speed limit signs and such, and it isn't just because of pure athletic ability.
It's a shame there aren't more like him in this day and age. I know I sound old but I'm not, there seriously aren't any good role models anymore. It's a shame.

Archie is a genuine person. JFF is a disgrace.
Other than their athletic abilities and instincts on the field, they really shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath. It isn't fair to Archie.

Without Archie Manning, Johnny Douchebag would be starting at free safety for the Longwhorns.
You can thank us later, Aggy.

I had the privledge of seeing Archie vs Scott Hunter, ALa vs OM in 1969. I've since seen every mobile quarterback from Michael Vick to Vince Young now JFF.
Archie was in a class by himself. And for those aTm boys who denigrate his pro career, let's see how long JFF lasts in the pros. Archie was on the worst team in the history of Pro football... running for his life. He had no offensive line and receivers who only could catch the ball occasionally. Plus a management team so clueless they drafted a punter in the first round.
Now... JFF's performance was indeed reminiscent of Archie. But he reminds me more of Doug Flutie than Archie. Archie is TALL and had a better arm, equal legs.
By the way... Alabama won that game in 1969 33-32, still regarded as one of the greatest games ever played, and was subsequently ranked #1. The next week they lost to Vanderbilt.

It's just further proof that, despite all efforts to convince ourselves to the contrary, Aggy does not belong in the SEC.
In the Southeastern, By God, Conference there are a few things that are sacred... We may make fun of the 'Bammer worship of Bear Bryant but we do not make fun of Bear Bryant. We may laugh at Eli's goofiness or Peyton's inability to beat Florida, but we do not make fun of the Manning family. The list may be short, but it is sacred in the Southeastern, By God, Conference.

Not really. It sounds like he was content to be part of a shitty organization and lose his entire career.

Did anybody else see the resemblance?
Yes, it was the first thought that came to mind. I guess I had never really seen old video clips of Archie in his college days (only clips of him getting smashed in the New Orleans backfield).
But yes, it's a different kind of elusiveness and watching the Archie clips, JFF was the first person that came to mind. It's like they don't juke; they just swirve to the left or right whilst still running and make the defender miss. It's mesmerizing.

No Archie was unique. I always thought he had a very unusual throwing motion. I also did not realize how good Eli was in college. I always liked Payton even though I don't care for the Vols.
When I see JFF highlights - I think of sandlot - backyard antics my brothers and I used to play when we were kids. Like tackle the man with ball kind of shite. Who knows - he may have a great career in the pros. Tarkington, Flutie were the same type - small and elusive and they had success.

Archie reminds me of a former sec QB, but not Johnny Hangover... It's Georgia QB Fran Tarkington

This makes no sense.
Archie was a great quarterback and a great person.
JFF is a great quarterback, and contrary to what ESPN would have you believe, also a great person.
Old miss can DIAF.
