It's just further proof that, despite all efforts to convince ourselves to the contrary, Aggy does not belong in the SEC.

In the Southeastern, By God, Conference there are a few things that are sacred... We may make fun of the 'Bammer worship of Bear Bryant but we do not make fun of Bear Bryant. We may laugh at Eli's goofiness or Peyton's inability to beat Florida, but we do not make fun of the Manning family. The list may be short, but it is sacred in the Southeastern, By God, Conference.

Without Archie Manning, Johnny Douchebag would be starting at free safety for the Longwhorns.

You can thank us later, Aggy.

Forgive us. We're just as directionally challenged as the conference officials that thought Columbia, Missouri was in the eastern part of the conference.

SMU isn't even an AAU member institution. Unless you're an AAU member you're not even the same CLASS of university as Rice, Texas, or Texas A&M. SMU doesn't belong in the same breath as the others. It's like one of those Highlights magazines for kids "which one of these is not like the others?" SMU.

It's so cute seeing Aggy trying to rationalize his existence... it's almost like watching 5 electricians sitting around the union hall talking about how awesome they are while management sits around the table drinking Pappy, smoking top of the line cigars, and laughing about their record breaking bottom line.

But... hey... don't worry, Aggy, if you do really, really good as a petroleum engineer you might get to be a manager working for an SMU or Texas alum at a company like Hunt Oil (owned and run entirely by SMU Cox School of Business alumni... largest privately owned company in the WORLD).
quote:

This guy here trying to act like SMU is held in the same esteem as Rice...

SMU puts out finance degrees and attorneys but I can't think of the last time I met an SMU engineer of any type, hard science research academic of any stripe, vet, accountant, medical doctor, pharmacist, or nurse... because I haven't ever met one of those.

Let me set it straight for people not from Texas:

When it comes to super-egghead academic elite, Rice is king in Texas. After that it's Texas, followed closely by A&M, then the SMUs, TCUs, and Baylors of the state squabble over who has the best law school, then UH, then Tech, then everyone else is basically the same.

Not even remotely trying to say that SMU is equal to Rice... Rice is the king in Texas when it comes to academic standards and national reputation and nobody else is even very close.

Texas is #2 based on just about every ranking and SMU is a bit behind at #3. A&M is just a bit behind SMU at #4 and then there's a larger gap going down to Baylor and then TCU... the Lugheads from Lubbock barely even deserve to be called a University and North Texas is probably worse than Collin County Community College.

This isn't personal opinion... it's straight from the most recently released rankings by the most commonly used source of University rankings (US News). Fact is, anything inside the top 100 is a damn good school and you don't really start seeing a big difference until you get into the top 20-30.

Based on the most recent US News rankings, all but one school in the SEC would kill to be in the top 50 and all but 2 schools (neither named Texas A&M) in Texas would kill to be in the top 50.

Rice is the premiere University in Texas followed by Texas and SMU. A&M is catching up, but the other 3 aren't just sitting around doing nothing.

Just for reference for anyone wondering...

Yeah... it's really too bad your former athletic director was dumb enough to sign a deal with Nike that gave them ownership of your best looking logo, forcing MSU to come up with dumb looking logo after dumb looking logo.

I dunno... at least the "Feed Moncrief" song is original. It may not be your style of music, but at least it's not just copycat shite.

The sad thing is that Tennessee condemned a very good coach to a mediocre time in the SEC.

Ole Miss really should have fired Bianco that same year and at least given Serrano an SEC program that cares about baseball.

re: fastest 40 yard dash in the sec

40 yard time may be the most overrated number in football. Every SEC team has some blazing fast guys that can outrun just about everyone else on the field at any given time... but, how often does a football player run 40 yards in a straight line? Pretty much never.

Dexter McCluster was never all that "fast" in the 40 ... about a 4.58 at the combine. How many times did he get caught from behind? But, it wasn't his straight line speed that made him so good. What made him so good was his ability to cut on a dime, change speeds, etc. Most pure track guys that turn in those ridiculous 40 times can't do that.

Henderson is the biggest douche in the SEC and I hope to god he does that when they play MSU and it just happens to be in front of my seats on the 2nd row, ill stick that mother fricker no questions asked

Yes... I actually can see an MSU fan being dumb enough to get himself thrown in jail over what a player in a game does.

If the Auburn fans and students hadn't wanted to get taunted by Henderson, they would have just done what they've done all season and not shown up.

Gotta give Manziel credit... he runs like he knows a late arriving hate crime charge is coming.

A good indicator of the money the school has is the University's endowment. Usually, the larger the endowment, the better the academics and overall the Alumni will have better paying jobs.

Ole Miss only has $470MM.

Big boys in the SEC are:
A&M system $7 Billion
Vanderbilt $3.375 Billion
Florida $1.3 Billion
Missouri $1 Billion
Arkansas $1 Billion

Hey, at least Mississippi trusts Ole Miss enough to let it manage its own endowment... Texas doesn't trust aggy to do that, which is why aggy's endowment is managed by... the University of Texas.

Well, at least Jackson hasn't mismanaged its school system that it had to be taken over by the state... like... oh, I don't know... Jefferson County (aka, Birmingham)
Now, hold on. Top 3 in what category?

SEC coaches that most resemble a 1920s horror movie character? #1 by far.

Coaching? No way.
I've got the effing video paused at the exact moment he made contact and he clearly hit first with his shoulder right at or below the receiver's shoulder.

Yeah, his helmet did him, too... but, wtf is he supposed to do? Go headless horseman and take his own head off so that his helmet never hits him?
