re: Question for non-A&M fans: do you think Jimbo will take Ags to next level?

I don't know if he will but he certainly has the potential to do so. He never had the type of budget for assistants at FSU that he will have at A&M. Seemed like every year he was losing coaches to equal jobs simply because FSU had the poor and couldn't afford to match offers. There are no guarantees in sports but if I was an A&M fan I would feel good about where the program was potentially headed. I give the hire a solid A+.

Won the NC with a great QB, has been mediocre without him. Jimbo never had much success when the ACC wasn't awful.
Even if the ACC is a tick down from the SEC, 10-3 year 1-2 without Winston is better than mediocre. But the 5-6 most recent year is definitely bad.

I think A&M will be more consistent and have a higher ceiling. They won't start going 10-2/11-1 every year, but they'll be a consistent Top 25 team with a few Top 10 years in which they seriously challenge for the conference and playoffs.
Is this worth $75mil?
For A&M fans I’m guessing it certainly is.

If next level means better than Sumlin then yes.
Sumlin won just under 9 games a year at A&M. So you’re expecting either 9 or 10 wins a year. That hasn’t been a given with any team in the West other than Bama.

No. We just decided to give money away, that is all.

Yes, he's definitely an upgrade over Rumlin.
No chance they are going undefeated anytime soon however.

Sherill had a good run. Owned Texas. I am sure Jimbo can win 10 just not sure if he will be able to do it consistently. In my opinion it was a very good hire.

He's a better HC than Orgeron. If he can get the right people in there, he should overtake LSU in the SECW hierarchy
You don't understand the Aggie. I've lived in Texas for 40 years and I can tell you they ain't taking over shite!
Posted on 12/4/17 at 3:09 pm to okietiger
Absolutely. The west is gonna be hell but Bama is on the tail end of our run and LSU has Orgeron. I see plenty of 10 win seasons and maybe a championship in the next 4 years.

With the right coordinators. Maybe not elite level, but alot higher than where they are now.
SEC West teams will actually have to prepare a little now for "Aggbo", but I don't think A&M will become dominant as many of their fans think.
Bama, Auburn and LSU aren't just going to roll over and play dead because Jimbo Fisher is at A7M now.........

Could you imagine how awful their fans would be if they won?
I mean LSU has beaten them 7 times in a row, yet still they talk shite.

Sumlin '12-'13
11-2 (#5)
9-3 (#18)
I have no idea nor care about past data but if it is anything like this you are making shite up. A7M did not go 9-3 in 2013. Did not win 9 regular season games maybe they got there with a bowl not but then there is game missing. Could have been 9-3 but LSU kicked Johnny's arse 34-10 in Tiger Stadium. LSU also played like shite that day and had over 100 yds in penalties. Otherwise is 77-0 type game.

We learned that from watching LSU fans talk shite to Bama.
