This is for Bama fans only...the real ones not the trolls. Curious how far we go before trolls take this off the rails but here we go.

I'm making the trek to the Bama game this year. I'll be my first game there. Looking for advice on tailgate locations, things to do in the area with the fam, restaurant suggestions, etc.
Forgive me if this has already been answered I couldn't find anything.

Been there for a Bama v LSU game and an Iron Bowl. Stay in B’ham and drive over.

Already have room reserved in Tuscaloosa..but I guess those can be cancelled if something is available in Birmingham. Never even considered that but probably should have. Thanks for the response.

If you have a room in T-Town, stay there, the drive out of Tuscaloosa to B'ham after a game is a nightmare.

The Quad is a great place to hangout before the game. The band plays on the steps of library, tons of people, you can always find some fun people!

Have fun!

I would not do that. Game is going to end late traffic back to Birmingham is going to be a nightmare. You’ll be lucky to be in by midnight, depending on where in Birmingham you can find something at this juncture.

If you’re saying in downtown Tuscaloosa, there are several nice dining options. Not going to be much for younger kids to do. Just really depends on how long you’re there and what you’re interested in doing or seeing. It’s a college town. Options are going to be limited outside of the University and things related to that.

thank you. We're flying in a few days before the game and back the next morning. Figured it'd be easier to find stuff to do before the crowds show up pre-game.

First visit, I'd definitely check out the Bryant Museum. Some great tailgating & activities on the the Quad, we always try to catch the Elephant Stomp at Gorgas and the Drumline at Denny Chimes. You can also grab a cold one at a few places closeby on the Strip, though it gets really packed. My favorite restaurants are Archibald's, the Waysider (especially for breakfast) and Chuck's (jmho). Hope you have a great time.

What part of town or what hotel are you staying?

Not a Bama fan but have been to 2 games in Tuscaloosa and if you aren't Auburn or LSU the Bama fans are very good hosts. I suspect they will be for Texas for at least a few visits depending on what happens LOL...Its a good game day atmosphere even if the outcome on the field is not what visting fans would like more often than not....

If you’re going to be in town a few days prior to gameday, I’d suggest checking out restaurants like DePalma’s in downtown. Chuck’s Fish is a great option too. I like Five as well. Waysider is a must for breakfast. But it can get packed early, Another Broken Egg is usually a nice backup for breakfast. Balcony seating has nice views of the Black Warrior River.

For BBQ I’d go with Archibald’s or the original Dreamland for the nostalgia.

If it were me, I would stick to something near the stadium on gameday. Some fast casual options on The Strip or vendors near The Quad.

Like I said earlier, there’s not going to be much for entertainment that doesn’t involve the University that’s family oriented. But you do have a laid back atmosphere at places like Black Warrior Brewing Co or Loosa Brews. Of course there’s always Birmingham for museums and other points of interest.

Go to city cafe for one of your lunches. My favorite meat and 3 during my years at UA.

Chuck's restaurant is great. Gallettes on gameday is a classic spot close to the stadium and features their famous "Yellowhammer" cocktail, but you would need to get there at 11am for a 6pm kickoff (tons of TVs to watch the day's slate of games). Innisfree Irish Pub (Irish gold chicken tenders and $4 pitchers on Friday afternoons) and the rooftop at Rounders on gameday are nice too. Would definitely recommend getting a $5 Joyride golf cart ride around campus on gameday if you are moving around.

The fraternities across the street from the Walk of Champions will have bands going and cash bars if you find yourself with time to kill before walking in the stadium.

Second that. I meant to list City Cafe too. Since OP will be there a few days prior. Loved that place when I was in college.

Hotel Indigo is nice. We really like their rooftop bar.

Also, Side by Side in the Embassy Suites is where a lot of the coaches like to dine.

I would probably spend a couple days in and around Birmingham then stay in Tuscaloosa just for the one night. Not trolling, but I don’t know that there is much to do in Tuscaloosa for more than one day.

Good advice. I do plan to check out the campus while there at the very least.
