UGA plays UT end of Sept and UF end of Oct. UGA may not favor playing AU within a week of either of those games. As long as they avoid that, it seems like they'd favor moving AU into Sept or Oct. Maybe UGA could swap the UT and AU games on their schedule.

Why would UGA want to do anything to make AU's life easier?

It makes more sense to have all cross division matchups wrapped up by mid-October... allows for more compelling inter divisional games down the stretch and prevents having rematches so close together.

Not sure if it’s logical or not with 14 teams.

I somewhat see your point. I've just never seen this discussed or even considered before.

Seriously, why has this subject of moving around rivalry games never been broached before?

or we both could just ditch the cupcakes we play the week before. Even Saban admitted he hates them
I agree, that would be nice, but we would still have to have a game there, with the IB being the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I remember when I was a student at Auburn, the IB was the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Go to the game and then go home for a week, and then have the next weekend to watch the other rivalry games. Bonus was if Auburn or Bama made the SECCG, there was a week off to heal up/rest/prep. Then the other schools (especially the east schools) complained that having the last week of the season as a bye was unfair - and the SEC office decided to mandate that everyone has to play the weekend after Thanksgiving.

It’s been brought up before, it’s just been a few years. I know at one of the media days, Mark richt was asked about it and said he’d be on board... but that was several years ago.

I’d think UT wouldn’t mind moving the UT/UGA game to later in the year... their season of good games is basically over by the end of Oct.

With 14, someone has to end with cross divisional game. It is unavoidable. I don't think ooc games should be allowed the last week of the season. I remember when the iron bowl winner got a bye week before the seccg. SEC said we couldn't do that any longer.

UA - 29 time nat champs - 1925, 1926, 1930, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1941, 1945, 1950, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015

I laugh every time I see this sig post ..

In 1941, Bama loses 2 SEC games .. to Vandy (0-7) and Mississippi State (0-14). Meanwhile, State goes undefeated in the SEC and wins it's ONLY SEC championship. And .. Bama has the nerve to claim 1941 as a 'National Championship!'

I like it where it's at.

Thanksgiving is a time that family get together. That's when the shite talking starts.....Saturday is when it ends.

Yes. Same in my family too. We have graduates from both schools. We love to talk about it before and after the meal. The women have a rule during the dinner, no politics or football. It works out fine. It is tradition and it isn't a one sided rivalry(calling you out UT).I know many families who have a similar experience during Thanksgiving. In other words if it is not broke, then don't fix it.

Switching the Sept UGA vs UT game with the Nov UGA vs AU game does seem to benefit all three.
