Our program is on the rise too. A 5-7 season may not look impressive comapred to Auburn's 7-5, but we also have the same SEC record ya'll do. "He's Auburn's to lose." That's been the buzz around Starkville all year, except replace Auburn with State. My questions still stands why you would invite and not offer.

What about starting for the man who tutored both you and tim tebow? the man who's been recruiting you and promising you the world since you left florida?

I am sure if Chizik can get a suitable answer for the laptop situation and figure out what kind of discipline he has they will offer. The guy is amazingly talented.

No Offense to Auburn, but they just arent quite at the level where they would have a 5* QB on a visit and not offer him

I agree that State looks like they are going to be more competitive in the coming years.
However, Auburn is clearly a little defensive depth (that should be addressed in this recruiting class) away from being back to contending for the West again......
Most people can see Auburn is going to be very tough next year (except for fans who are in denial b/c they hate us).......Cam Newton knows this as well.
He wants to play in a big time offense, and the truth is our offense is going to big time this coming season and State's isn't going to be nearly as potent.

None taken, we know where we are right now and where we can/should be. I dont know if Auburn is ever above a 5 star QB. Todd and Cox are not exactly stars, simply game managers.

Of course we are.....Rollison was the #2 ranked dual threat QB in the nation last year......if he gets his act together, which I expect he will, then he has the edge to start in '10.......
Having Rollison start versus having Newton start probably wouldn't necessarily guarantee any additional wins. Gus will draw up plays to maximize the effectiveness of our players regardless of who starts and the offense will flourish.....
I think it's clear that Mullen needs superstars to get results. He may get one in Newton, or he may not. We shall see.

i think a lot of his decision will come down to how committed is newton to mullen.

He will be back but I am not sure if he will be elgible, there is no way in telling as of right now. Some people say a bar fight but I know for a fact he was struggling with his grades. He is far from being kicked off the team as of right now.

Why is Auburn going to improve next year? More so than any other SEC team? It is a very nice recruiting class, but experience wins in the SEC. Look at Alabama 2008. It was not our recruiting class, but the juniors and seniors that lead that team. I think 2011 is going to be the first year Auburn has a chance to win 4 sec games.

We return practically everyone from our team, we add to our biggest shortfall (depth, esp on D & LB) and we will have JUCO guys and a few freshman that can step in and make a huge difference. Add some chemistry and a very favorable schedule and Auburn is looking at 9 wins.

I don't agree because Julio and Ingram made an impact bigtime. But yeah JPW was a 12th year senior that did well as with other upperclassmen.

AU is going to be better, but not world beaters next year. I think 8-9 wins is most likey. Depth is going to be better, but still a long way to go.

Yeah I am thinking 8-9 wins as well. I said I did not think Auburn would 4 sec games til 2011. I think Auburn will win 3,4 or 5 sec games next year. But that is nothing to write home about. It is win you win 6, 7, or 8 that you are beginning to separate yourself. I just think the soonest that could happen for Auburn is 2011.

It really would be a shame if State misses on this guy. It is their perfect chance to finally have a competent SEC qb and it looks like it is slipping through their hands.

I heard that the cowbells permanently messed with Newton. He had nightmares and cold sweats.

If yall get Newton, Im gonna call it now that Trooper Taylor is the BEST RECRUITER in the SEC.
I think Curtis Luper (maybe better recruiter) and Malzahn are recruiting him.

yeah, we have juniors and seniors next year too.......we're returning almost everybody and will be in the second year of the coaching staff's tenure.
All we heard from you guys at the time was how your freshmen were making a huge impact, Saban's players, blah, blah, blah.....truth is, those frosh added some depth to your team and the same thing will happen for us. That was the missing ingredient for us this year on defense.
To think we can't find a way to win 4 SEC games next year is the stupidest thing I have read on this board.
